I went home from Dickinson to Mandan Saturday morning. Coldest air temp I saw on the truck was -33. It’s not the worst I’ve seen it here, but you don’t wanna be outside long with the wind blowing 30 mph. The news must be slow and need to pump some people up so we made the headlines. It’s just another winter here if you ask me.
Trucks gelling up in the winter, what is the solution?

Curious : If you had a truck that was just sitting - not running and the fuel gelled, how many 30 degree days ( left outside without heat ) would it take for the fuel to go back to normal ? I realize that there is no exact answer but has anyone encountered this scenario ?

Been driving 7 gears now, I only ever worried about ever treating my diesel below -10. When it gets colder than that, ill toss some howes in. This time that did not work. Luckily I am parked at home, but its been a huge headache. Pulled the filter today, and its caked full, even at 5 degrees. You live, you learn.
I think Pilot winter blend is much better than some of the others.JoeyJunk Thanks this. -

Had one today. Had unit in the heated shop all night yesterday replacing a harness for electrical issues. Parked outside for road test to verify repairs. Nearly broke down on the road test. Temps were @ 2* F overnight. Frame filter was frosted up like a snow cone and 1/8” of frost on top of the 3/4 full tanks.
Clearly a lot of moisture in the fuel and untreated.Feedman, tiddlytanker, Last Call and 3 others Thank this. -

Hot shots and squiggly fuel.
