    Well, one thing is that companies are, increasingly, using CHEAP retreads more and more to cut costs due to high driver turnover rates, high fuel costs, and others costs from the strangling regulations in the trucking industry. It WILL get worse and worse.

    Fire the mechanic!! I believe they are referring to the whole tire coming off. Of course I know it's the drivers responsibility to check the lugs, and the driver will catch the brunt of any actions taken against these accidents.

    Lesson #1 Never take anything for granted. Check it and then double check that you checked it.
