to long. I had been driving from N. Michigan. It was Easter and I just didn't start it. Never expected anyone to be open that night. I start it all the time now! She didn't put me out of service though, Because she had so many out of service that she had no room to put another truck. LOL

Wait 'till you're in Cali- you're loaded so you take the right lane- the wagon that tailgated you into the scalehouse jumps into the left lane (the one for empty trailers) and rushes up alongside you to hide his overweight container next to your truck as you go across the scales.

It happens at least once on every trip. I've got mixed feelings about it. The redneck in me says "Hey- Good Move!" The taxpaying businessman in me says "This happens every day, all day long and the scale house hasn't caught on yet?"

Yeah, that's right up there with the can haulers on the New England Thruway in Conn (I-95) using the hammer lane on the 3 lane section (no trucks). You don't see em get caught much, but I love to see it when they do !

As far as the coops go, I never pass em by when open. I'm not lucky enough to not get caught. As for the WIM (weigh in motion), I drive a car hauler (stinger type), so loaded or empty, I pretty much get called in always because the sensors on the poles don't know what I am. And the platform isn't always sure either.

I have a prepass transponder. I get a green pass light about 90 percent of the time. If I am carrying a placarded load, I always turn in even if I get the green light.

Only in AZ and AR do you have to go through the scales while pulling Hazmat.
OH and WV as well, only if you are an unlicensed Hazmat carrier ie you do not have an Alliance for Uniform Hazmat Transportation license in your permit book.

I roll past scales with a green light, even when carrying Class 7, as long as I'm not in AR or AZ. Here's the rules http://www.prepass.com/forms/Other Forms/Bypass Restrictions.pdf

Oh yeah, Kentucky just joined Prepass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now if only NC would give up their never used system and join, the whole East Coast will be ours!
