Not sure who you are addressing but here are my feelings. Your 75mph roads cause more fatalities than any truck doing 65 in the hammer lane. 4 wheelers don't pay attention. Traffic is brought to a standstill in front of them and they are not trained to notice it (looking that 1/4 mile ahead) and instead plow into that stopped truck in front of them at 75mph+ killing themself and their passengers. And who gets blamed? The CMV driver. At 75MPH a car travels more than the length of a football field in just 3 seconds. Too dangerous IMO.
Here is an example I personally witnessed...trucks driving too slow indeed....try 4 wheeler drivers driving too fast. But trucks are a far better revenue source aren't they?

The speed limit is the MAXIMUM speed at which a vehicle may legally travel. There is also a MINIMUM speed limit on most interstates...so as long as that minimum speed is being maintained, there ain't much you can do.
Also, the "keep right" laws in most states make exceptions to vehicles in the process of passing slower vehicles, without regard to the speed at which the passing vehicle is traveling. If they are maintaining a speed above the minimum speed limit, yet lower than the maximum speed limit, and they are in the process of passing another vehicle, there ain't a #### thing you can do about it.
Yeah, back when I was driving a governed truck (65 mph truck, 70 mph state), I was in the process of making a pass. The truck I was passing was just barely slower than I was...maybe 1 mph difference. The first car that caught up to us started flashing his high beams in my mirror, so I slowed down to make the pass drag on a little while longer. I was still passing, but now I was just inching my way by him. When the blue lights came on, the guy I was passing backed out of it. He shouldn't have, but he did. Anyway, as soon as I completed the pass and had room to safely do so, I moved over into the right lane. The blue lights went off, and the jackssa in the cop car sped on up the road.
Keep right except to pass....and I was passing. Wasn't a dern thing the cop could have done even if he wanted to.
...and don't flash your high beams in my mirror, because it sure as heck won't get you anywhere any sooner.

I'm polite and considerate on the road almost to a fault but obviously I won't get pushed around to much.
Now 1 thing you should not do to me is flash your high beams at me! If you think I can't see you in my mirrors that are 4 times the size of yours and I'm 100 times more likely to be watching my rear than MOST 4 wheelers then you need to think again!
And if you think you have the rite to scold me for passing a slower vehcile then I disagree!
And I'm certainly not talking about choping into the fast lane rite in front of you, I wouldn't do that.
And I'm also in no rush to pass a rig that's a mile or 2 slower than me, no that I will do in good time when its suits every1.
Now I don't know about there but out here we have anything from the old 290hp-600hp hauling 34 tons- a gross vehcile mass of 56 tons- I geuss that's around 120 000 pounds so as u can imagine the speeds vairy hugely and not just by a mile or 2.
And then yes the tax issue- ofcoarse we all pay the tax and that gives no 1 more rite than any1 else regardless of the amount-its all relative, but hey notice who allways brings it up "we also pay tax"!
Now who said if you not doing the 4WHEELERS speed limit then you souldnt over take ???? WHAT???? Get outa dodge buddie!!! How many times do I come up behind a 4wheeler that's doing 60-65mph- should I sit behind him in the lane that YOU say I'm not allowed out of just so that HIS fellow 4wheelers can bomb along as they please but not me, because there is a 4wheeler in "our" lane that you say we not allowed out of????? Let's go back and look at what was really first said. As to Mr. Legend, no one suggested that you could "never" pass a slower moving vehicle (unless you are operating in an area where truck lane restrictions are imposed, it was just suggested that you wait until you would not be holding back faster traffic, particularly when the truck speed limit imposed is slower than that automobile speed limit, when your passing would not obstruct faster moving traffic and access to that lane. I am not sure where you would sharing the road with 56-ton vehicles except perhaps coal weight trucks with restricted tags hauling from the mines, however, I am not disputing that such a roadway exists, all that I am saying is that I am not familiar with it. And, as for the tax issue, I am not certain what it has to do with "holding left lane" or "obstructing traffic" violations.

I can only say that it is things such as you describe, using your truck for a
"traffic control device" "speed limit enforcement device" is precisely why the four-wheelers become aggrevated with 18-wheelers, disrespectful drivers who do not share the road, but believe that it is their "inherent right to dominate the roadways" that is derived from size, very similar to "bullying" in Middle Schools. And, if that isn't enough, you elect to add "failure to yield to an emergency vehicle" to your array of egregious conduct. I wonder if you would feel the same way about a truck driver that just "slowed down to make drag the pass drag on a little while longer" if that officer was on the way to a motor vehicle accident where your your choice of(wife) (child) (bulldog) or perhaps all three] were pinned inside the vehicle and they were perhaps even bringing with them some tools that could aid in extraction, even before a secondary event, e.g. a fire fueled by gasoline, could occur turning an injury accident into a fatality? I know that he turned is overhead lights off after he passed you, but I generally do the same if there is no other traffic visible, especially at night when their reflection off of things like road signs, roadway cuts through mountainous area where sheer sides also are reflective, or when I see that they may cause a disturbance from the "rubbernecking" population that seems to always be more interested in where my police car is going when the overhead lights are activated than what lies in front of them on the highway as they proceed in the opposite direction. Our state has laws about "holding the left lane" an "obstructing traffic" as do most others for a number of reasons, not the least of which is the propensity for "road-rage" events that can end badly. Remember, it is the driver of an 18-wheeler that is prohibited from carrying a firearm in their vehicle, not the drivers of 4-wheelers which puts you at a significant disadvantage should such a road-rage event occur. Perhaps that police officer that you slowed down was responding to a road-rage incident was in progress, he turned his overhead lights off so that the violator might not either flee, or over-react when he arrives on the scene if so notified or any other mulittude of other reasons and that few minutes that you were able to "drag" out of the event resulted in a death or injury of another. I am not making any "legal" determinations but in this litigious society, perhaps your actions, if observed by others, might result in both you, and your company becoming defendants in a wrongful death lawsuit. I am just guessing, but I doubt that such litigation would make the company that employs you, or leases your tractor more anxious to keep you on their payroll. -
I didn't "fail to yield" to an emergency vehicle. I just didn't get out of the way of a cop who thought those little blue lights on his roof made him special.
If you are responding to a call, where a timely response is vital to someone's life, then you should be running your blue lights. You shouldn't wait to put them on until after flashing your high beams fails to make a governed truck move faster.
The only driver showing signs of road rage was the cop....first by flashing his high beams, then when that didn't achieve the desired result, using the emergency lights in an unauthorized manner.
Please cite the regulation or law prohibiting CMV drivers from possessing a firearm. Trust me when I tell you that I have looked for it extensively. It does not exist. There is NO federal regulation prohibiting the carrying of a firearm in a CMV. The ONLY firearm laws which must be followed are the same for commercial drivers as they are for any other driver, and those laws vary from state to state. If the driver of a 4-wheeler is legally able to carry a firearm, it is JUST as legal for the driver of an 18-wheeler.
Perhaps the impatient, road raging officer was trying to get to the Krispy Kreme while the "Hot & Fresh" sign was still lit?

First of all, a lawsuit brought based upon that line of reasoning would be thrown out...strike that....LAUGHED out of court. Courts have already ruled repeatedly that the police have no duty to respond to any call from any individual. If the police have no duty to respond in the first place, why do you think a person who unknowingly slowed the unnecessary response of an officer who was not running any lights or sirens would be able to be held civilly liable? It ain't going to happen.
Second of all, there is NOTHING illegal about passing a slower vehicle.
Third, if a timely response WAS critical, the officer would have been running his emergency lights & sirens as he approached....NOT wait until he caught up to the "slow" trucks, then flash the high beams in an attempt to make a governed truck move faster than the governed speed, before finally reaching for the emergency lights.
You talk as though you are a cop, yet you have ZERO clue as to what is legal or illegal...which leaves your credibility on any issues pertaining to the law somewhat lacking. Perhaps you ought to learn how to do your own job before criticizing others who are doing theirs within the scope of the law.CarlLegend Thanks this. -

I say again if there is a SLOW vehcile in my lane why should I slow my heavy load down 10ml an hour so that a 4wheeler doesn't have to slow down 5 or 10 ml an hour, how is that fair?????
Forget mr chief or what ever you claim to be, bring on your "citations" you will be hard pressed to find anything on me any way!
