what's the point of this? Ever since I been with Schneider none of their trucks have the a button for the airbags inside the cab. As you can imagine this could be an annoyance especially when a trailer is dropped way too low. It's been a time where I had to pick up a live load but it was dropped low to the point where cranking the landing gear wouldn't do it by there was no yard dogs working until the next day so I had to wait. Instead of just being able to lower the air bags and get it myself

Driving with airbags deflated will destroy the rear ends. Likely got tired of replacing them due to driver forgetting to reinflate the air bags.
At least that what the Swift mechanic told me when I went through orientation years ago...

Isn't there a loud annoying noise that plays as long as your airbags are deflated

No good reason I can think of.

You could always do it manually but getting at the leveller valve is a pita once you're hooked.

My company had hard time finding this system, I guess or Freightliner dealer did not know about it. I can raise the air bag 2 inches or lower them. When you drive over 17 MPH it go to normal level. My company wanted ability to raise the fifth wheel because we do lots of drop and hook. They had 6x2 truck that could do that but we switch to regular 6x4 they could only do the stand air bag lowering

    It's the Hadleyadvantage Smart Valve

Possibly could be cheaper for them to order trucks without certain features such as this...

Cheaper and dummy proof. Just like no hand valve, trolly brake or whatever. Didn't know some were without until guy i knew 20 years ago was showing me his new used truck. Like the old joke about yellow or roadway back in the day. They ordered 1 seat in the cab, so the driver knew where to sit. May be more true now than ever?

And yet drivers still managed to tear up rear ends....
Not saying it isn't stupid to not have the dump valve, just can see the reason behind it if what the mechanic said is true.

Dropped air bags puts your driveshaft at a odd angle. Never heard it it take out a rearend..except possibly a u-joint, or stress the front input bearing in the rear? But one would have to drive for miles before damage. IMO.
