Hello guys i am starting training here soon and I have some questions about packing and the showers at truckstops. I looked through the packing list thread and i see the general consensus is one or two small duffel bags and a shower bag. With the shower bags what would you guys recommend and would you suggest shower shoes

I would pack shower shoes.Maybe a towel washcloth and of course all the other things you use at home. There may be times you'll be showering at the terminal and they may not have towels so make sure to pack a towel.

Mine is packed full of goodies.

    - scented body oil
    - matching scented shampoo & conditioner. (Don't want a conflict if scents)
    - $400/oz perfume
    - tweezers
    - eye lash curler
    - blow drier
    - curling iron
    - hair straightener
    - exfoliating luffa
    - silk luffa
    - hot oil hair treatment
    - do-it-at-home wax strips
    - body lotion
    - cuticle cutter
    - Mud mask
I could go on, but y'all might start making fun of me.

Seriously......pack the crap you use at home when you shower.

Get a back pack/school book bag to put your stuff into.

You don't need the shower shoes. I've never used them and never had a problem. I'd keep a towel and some soap handy case you end up and some random place that doesn't give you that stuff but most of the big chains like Pilot and T/A provide that stuff. I used to always use my own towel but gave up on doing that. Do whatever makes you comfortable.

take a small hand bag with you inside and some flip flops to change into after you shower and ask the desk for a plastic bag to put your dirty clothes in before you go into the shower so you don't mix them up with the clean ones. That's what I do.

Ok i have a duffle bag if i can get the zipper to work. I may also have a bookbag. My uncle said he has a laundry bag somewhere in the closet if we can find it. I also have a suitcase but I'm pretty sure thats not a good idea to bring

When I camp or do any travelling I bring a smallish, mostly waterproof backpack with me. I use it when I go to showers at campsites, when I go on excursions on a trip, as my carry on on planes. It is just big enough to carry a towel and a medium size makeup bag (they're great for this purpose, they have slots to hold bottles, zippered pockets both internal and external, and most even have a hook that pulls out if you have a towel bar or something to hang it on) that carries my shower essentials, as well as a change of underwear and a clean shirt. Pants I'll change in the tent or truck. Don't bother with wash cloths, they take longer to dry. Use those fluffy loofahs on a string that can be compressed to take up the space of a quarter. At any pharmacy you can purchase small plastic bottles to put your shampoo, mouth wash and body wash in (bar soap doesn't compress and takes more space) these bottles will easily hold a weeks worth, or more. The makeup bag I use is about the size of a large book when fully loaded. I have everything from soap, shampoo, loofah, mouthwash, folding tooth brush, paste, q-tips, aspirin, alcohol wipes for my glasses. Most everything I keep in my medicine cabinet at home, just all in smaller quantities.

As for shower shoes, get the plastic kind. Rubber soaks up water if there is any crack at all. The plastic ones are cheap and easily tossed and replaced at the first sign of cracks etc that again, allow water to soak in.

Bar soap and towel are provided. I always ask for extra towles. .. I always wear some kind of shower shoe like flip flops or whatever, I never touch my bare feet to the floor. Wife uses extra towel to lay on floor in front of sink to stand on . We are afraid of cooties.

You could try what One new driver wrote recently, said that he uses his underwear as a towel then rings them out and wears them.
