LOL yes I am in a CDL school in Philadelphia, PA and one of the rumors going around is that Wernerand TMC are the two best companies that you can start out with. That Werner gives all their drivers almost new trucks
which I dont think they believe themselves. Well I hope they dont. Also that TMC when you are done training they will send you to the Peterbilt factory to pick up your truck
Gotta loves the rumors. Any TMC drivers that can give me some insight.

When I was there last year they gave you a choice between 3 trucks at the end of orientation. The 379 short nose Pete, the long nose Pete, and the 387 Aero Pete. I think no matter what most get the 379 short nose Pete, and chances are its got 350k or more on it. At least mine was. It was in decent shape though, I didn't have any complaints.
When I turned in my truck though the yard was full of them. But you don't really get to pick one out. -
I know TMC is getting rid of there 387s and going back to the Hood trucks with the new 389 long nose petes. I will be starting there on the 27th and letting everybody know how its going. MIZ I can tell you that they are pretty anal about there trucks and the condition they are in. There are stories out there about drivers having the insides of there trucks dirty and they come to the terminal and they get in trouble for not taking care of the truck.
The equipment is nice and pretty much all the TMC trucks you see are the new 389 trucks with the emmisions motors. I would think that they are trying to get rid of all the older ones and buy up as many new 389s as possible just so they can still have a CAT in it since CAT Highway motors are no more.
MIZ I will start a thread on there as soon as I get to Des Moines and I will keep everybody informed on how its going there. Also dont believe the BS they are telling you at your school about Werner being a good company or you getting a new truck when you start out. Thats all BS, why would they put a boot driver in a brand new 150K dollar truck when they have ones sitting worth half that so if you do wreck it or mess it up its not as big of a loss for them. If you have any questions feel free to PM me and I will help you out as much as I can since some people on here are just being smart ***es when your trying to figure out honest questions.SCNewbie Thanks this. -
I watched a guy at the Des Moines terminal inspect mine once; he opened the drivers door, took a quick look inside while still standing on the ground, closed the door, and checked it off. It was fairly clean, but not detailed or anything like that, since I'm too old & grumpy to play silly games. I'm sure that if the floor was muddy, or there was garbage laying around, or something that made it obvious I didn't give a **** he would have probably complained.
I've never had any complaints about my truck when I go into a terminal, but I've made a couple of complaints about the mechanics leaving it dirty. I keep my truck clean, but I don't do it for TMC, I do it for me, so I just wait & clean it when I leave a terminal. I have to live in that truck for a week, or two at times, so I keep it up to my standards of cleanliness. If that's not good enough for TMC, no problem, I can take my toys and go play someplace else.SCNewbie Thanks this. -
I hear ya. I use to keep my company truck from Prime clean. I would get it washed every week and I would polish the rims every once and a while because I like my equipment lookin good and the inside was always clean.
