Many don't know this, but Roehl also has a Chicago intermodal fleet. They don't haul containers, they use regular vans, and reefers. I did it for a few months, pretty much Monday to Friday, maybe to Sat morning. A dew times home Sat afternoon. Just a thought.

Really? That's a thought ...do you think its possible to make at least $500 after taxes weekly? I was going to do 14/7 national reefer in hopes of having a decent paycheck every week

I've been considering applying to Roehl too - intermodal or the dairy land option they talk about on their website. The possibility of delivering on a regular route with customers that the driver will get to know is an appealing one. I had a small question though that I've not been able to locate answers for, and haven't approached a recruiter yet to find out. Are these types of loads typically unloaded by the driver or are most unloaded by the customers?

I've been getting most answers from the Roehl threads, the search option up top is pretty useful

I'm testing for my cdl next monday ... It's just a matter of figuring out the best company to start at as a new driver. I think roehl sounds good, I can apply at conway and see what happens, but id rather not work the docks if I don't have t o

Bingo. Driving OTR is a vacation compared to city driving especially with a 53 footer.

Don't want to work the docks, otr well give me the chance to drive and see the country, which sounds appealing. Hopefully after a year or two of experience I'll be able to do line haul locally.thats my ultimate goal st the moment.
