When I had my homemade setup and was using a 5000 watt window a.c. unit and the Honda 2000, it had about 1.25 gallon tank and would last maybe 6 hours running a.c. only. If I did it again I would go the Honda 3000 route.
Trying to cut cost

The ones with one vent hose work a little better because they do exhaust the hot air outside, but they use the cabin air to run across the condenser coil before it exhaust it outside. What that does is suck already cooled air out of the cabin, and also creates a negative pressure situation inside the cabin and will cause more hot air to come in from the outside through any cracks or loose seals.
The ones with 2 hoses work as good as any, but are more expensive, and cause you to have to run 2 vent hoses to the outside.
The main drawback to any inside unit is it takes up floor space. This may not be a very big problem in a house bedroom, but in a sleeper where space is already a premium, they just take up too much room.ShooterK2 Thanks this. -

Agree. There's no comparison to Honda generators. The cheapo ones aren't even close... In any category of performance.

I got a used Tripac installed in my truck for $1000 down and $4000 financed to repay in 24 months, went to apucenter.com in Strafford, MO. Best thing i have done in my life, got 110 volt, AC, heat and recharged batteries all the time. Saving $30 every night from not having to idle, pay for the apu and put money in your pocket.
