I have the generator setup on one of my trucks to experiment also. But I have a battery tender that I plug in when truck is off in winter to batteries don’t die and also run block heater off generator as well

    RStewart Thanks this.

I had a apu installed on my last truck, dealer called me a few months later and asked why I wasn’t making payments.
I explained that the salesman told me it would pay for it’s self. Lying salesman.

I don’t think anyone can help you with the generator unless you got a buddie that can help ya. If you don’t understand basic wiringand fabrication, I would just get an APU instaled at the dealer.

Installation isn’t hard at all. It’s a plug and go type application.

Can you please explain the plug and go then. You make it sound as simple as a blue tooth pairing. Just wondering what I'm missing here.

I have had them both. Honestly I like my new tripac. Dollar for dollar nothing beats a Honda 3000 with just a little enginuity. Not even close. I mean it's not even close! Honestly I wouldn't even spring for a diesel fired onan or yanmar generator. Honda's are just that good.

    1. I placed generator on catwalk or you can find a box to mount to frame.
    2. I made a 30 amp cord (did not buy one due to end being to big) leave one plug unattached.
    3. Drilled hole under side box that went into side box
    4. Raised bed and drilled hole from side box to under bed.
    5. Drilled hole from under bed out to truck cab.
    6. Ran power cord through holes.
    7. Attaches male end plug to generator side and female on truck side.
    8. Plug in 30amp plug to generator and plugged 110 volt adapter to female plug in truck.
    9. Turn on generator
    10. Plug in heater, a/c, phone charger, tv or whatever you want and enjoy.
30amp to 110v adapter attached. Can buy at northern tool.
