I got my class A a couple of years ago, but couldn't go out over the road due to a family crisis. I have been driving armored trucks for the last couple of years and want to go out over the road. I have been trying to decide between Swift, Transam, and Prime. Anyone have any experience and/or recommendations about the companies
trying to decide on best move to make. Any recommendations?

I'm very new and just started driving for Swift. I'm still with my mentor. You will read a lot of negative things on here about a lot of companies. So far, my experience with Swift has been great. I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop. Hope for the best, plan for the worst.
Good luck in your search. -
TransAm would be my choice.

I have a inlaw that drove for Prime ..He seems to talk it up pretty good...

Trans Am and Prime will try to fleece purchase him. Go with Swift.

i have heard hit and miss with prime. One of the guys i work with drove for transam before he got married and said it was good. I plan on being a company man for the first year or two then look into leasing my own truck.

I drove for swift, and after 8 months resigned because I had fulfilled all my goals of driving OTR, Im from australia and wanted to see every state in america (everyone should see this great country, truly the best in the world). I occasionally miss it, and the pay wasnt bad, but you are essentially working 24/7 and eating properly can be difficult. I can recommend swift, although I would say stay local, sleeping in your own bed and using your own toilet are advantages that are good. I always have in my back pocket that i can go back to swift if things ever get bad, so it is a good company imo

No one is forced to lease; there are two choices; "yes" or "no."
Don't believe it when people say, "I was forced to sign a lease" or "I was forced to run illegally", "I was forced to miss my Mothers funeral because my dispatcher wouldn't let me go." When people make those comments, it's because they won't take personal responsibility for their own bad choices/decisions, so it's some elses fault.
Of the 3 companies you mention, I would choose one of the two refrigerated carriers as a company driver. I personally would choose TransAm because a friend worked their and had no complaints at all about the company. The only reason he left after 2 years, was because his wife wanted him home every night. -
If you like sitting at Cargill plants for two and 3 days choose Trans Am.

I am not experienced as I am still in school but come from a trucking family. Call ask questions do research and choose what fits you best not everybody is the same. Swift fit my needs for school and they also have a terminal close to me so I choose them but may not be right for your situation. Whatever u choose I'm sure you will be happy if you put your mind to. Good luck and be safe.
