My guess is he lost one (blew off). That’s why I always carry clear packaging tape, a roll of duct tape if all else fails, and towels to clear off moisture in the event of rain/snow. All you have to do is just run 2 pieces of tape across them in an “X” pattern and you’ll never lose one. And yes, I absolutely grab an extra one or two from the shipper as well...

I learned the hard way as well... I have a complete set of extras (5) for every load I've hauled under the bunk. Yea, it's a stack about 4 inches thick, but so-be-it.

Hope you got it taken care of, but if not, drive on until you can get one...

If not, move the placard from the nose of the trailer to the missing spot. A lot less likely to get spotted missing between the truck and trailer.

Thanks guys. All is well. FWIW the shipper had only given me the 4 (Yeah i coulda asked for more but its only my 2nd hazmat so I'll remember next time), and they were really flimsy stickers which I was putting in holders instead of sticking. So the passenger side was getting beat up and the first one vanished altogether. Actually heard about it on the CB from a trucker said he saw one like mine flying down the highway awhile back. Pulled off to check, and sure enough. I figure the CB paid for itself right then and there.

I did move the nose placard to the side to get me to an office depot about 60 miles up the road, and the new passenger side was already starting to shred again by the time I got there.

Laminated color copy was about six bucks. It was just a shade smaller than the original but I had them cut the laminate edges just to the exact size of the original, so it still fit perfectly in the holder. Put the laminated one on the passenger side since it's much tougher, and moved the slightly damaged one back to the nose. Worked like a charm.

And I checked another truck stop after arriving at my destination in Michigan. No yellow placards in stock there either.

If you get some pieces of aluminum cut to the size of a placard you can stick the stickers to the aluminum and put those in the holders.

duck tape is cheaper and you don't have to stick the placard to any thing. slide'm in; 2 small stirps of tape and down the road you go. Take them out; wipe'm off (if they are not too terribly bad) and save for next time.
