Trying to find employment recent felonies

Dude, it isn't the felonies, it is the 15 over and no seat belt tickets that would stop you. The felonies unless they are of a very violent nature, would not stop you from finding work but those tickets, especially the 15 over is a show-stopper for most companies because the insurance companies that dictate to all of us.

 

The question is, when did you get the speeding tickets? Were they in the last 3 years? If so, it's gonna be tough for a period of time. 15 over is dicey..I got started in 2010, and I had a speeding ticket for 17 over and Western Express took me. How far past 15 were you going? It's not impossible, but if someone takes you, don't be mashing that throttle

 

You might try some smaller outfits. The bigger companies are real sticklers for rules and regs and run a tight ship.

There's a demand for CDL drivers outside of the traditional cargo world. Several have been mentioned, snow plow, city maintenance departments, construction companies (moving equipment), farms, forest service, septic companies, propane companies, landscape companies, etc, etc. Most of those companies do not list individual drivers on their insurance policies.

Like one of the other posters has mentioned, a non-traditional job outside of cargo hauling may be your way to get your foot in the door especially for driving a snow plow.

For example, I spoke to the South Dakota State road and bridge superintendent back in February of this year and he told me that they had a shortage of over 90 snow plow operators and they were unable to keep up with the demand of keeping the roads clean for traffic to pass through.

A lot of those jobs that operate snow plows and other road maintenance equipment pay a premium wage that is hourly plus a ton of overtime in the winter. In the summertime you may be driving a dump truck pulling a 40' equipment trailer or something like that and when the first snowfall hits in late September the plowing begins and goes for months in the upper Midwest.
