Here is another tip that might help your shifting besides getting the technique of double clutching..It kind of takes switching grips atfirst instead of the death choke most newbs put on the shift lever.. When going from top to bottom, use two fingers(pointer and middle) right under the curled part of the top of the shifter(assuming you are driving an eaton fuller) and you'll be able to get the feel I am talking about..When going from bottom up, use the c cup between the thumb and index finger to cup the shifter. Again you'll be able to feel the pressure required to grab the next gear..

Another thing: do alot of dry runs with the truck off and parked..Some gates might not engage but make the sound of the engine with your mouth and try going through the gears from 1-9/10. This should also help. This is how I actually got the muscle memory of the shifting down without thinking about it. Hang in there dude..After you get it, you'll get it.

I think he left out the midget on the corner giving you lewd gestures from the second part.

    You'll get this thing.

Can't practice enough you must have went to the same school me. Lol they thought driving 15 to 20 min 3 to 4 days a week was enough. Thats why we are not really drivers we are only new people with a CDL, hopefully get a trainer that will bring us into driver status

I mean we are new to this industry and have just received our CDL. This does not make us drivers. It makes us 4 wheelers with a CDL When we go to a company and get training from a real driver ( I hope ) then and only then do I believe that we can move into driver status.
Our were you correcting my english lol. Im always typing on my phone so there lots of typos lol

NO not trying correct you, I am trying make a point, you can't be new, your over 21, but you have a new license to learn - right?

Great attitude, I wish it was contagious but it isn't.

There's straight-up honesty in those words, no "beat down" warranted. You worded it very well.
My agreement with your words, however, do not mean that I feel that Lone Gunman, in particular, is in the "wrong road" group. It merely means each of us knows (or should know) on the inside, whether we are at the high end of a goal struggle (but just a bit more practice/experience to attain it, deservedly) or actually beyond our true abilities for this given task/goal.
Since shifting a non-syncro HD trans does take everyone some/various time to master when new to it, and since personal experience have shown that a world of change can happen in short order with "a bit" more practice, I'll give Lone Gunman a thumbs up "you'll get it" blessing, but if the moment comes when he decides and says "It just isn't for me"... I will have utmost respect for him just the same.
