I want to obtain a CDL with X endorsement in Texas. I know I can pass the written parts by reading/studying from good sources. I am looking for a driving school to learn the practical part of the CDL for 2weeks at least without costing me too much, please any advise? 2. The Hazmat and tanker endorsements are both written test, I will take at DPS. Do I need to signify am testing for them in my form, pay for it and I will be tested? How much is the CDL with X endorsement in Texas?

I was a little bit over $100 for my class A. I think it is another $11 for hazmat test plus about $85 for the background check. Figure another $11 for the tanker test. If you take all of the written tests before taking your driving test they will want you to take the driving test with a tanker. You might want to think about taking the tanker test after you have your CDL unless you have access to a tanker.

Here is all the redtape I had to go thru. Now im just waiting for the plastic copy to arrive in the mail.Right now I have a paper copy.Anyway here's all the redtape,I had to call the dept of transportation and fill out an online application. Then received a refference number. Here without that you cannont get fingerprinted. Here the dmv requires your medical card.So I take the test, pass,I go to another place give them $86.50 to get fingerprinted.First they look on their computer for my refference number and to see if I passed. The finger printing takes about half hr..Then you wait for the results which takes bout a month, you then go back to the DMV with your birth cirtificate and social security card. It's not as easy to get the hazmat like it once was due to 911.
