He just called me and said he talked to his fleet manager, Brian, who sounds like an awesome guy. His hometime will just be 3.5 days but it will still be for next Friday. Hubby apologized and said now that he knows it won't happen again and Brian said he should have been told about it and he said he'd get him routed back through Maine soon so he can have time to see his grandfather who is dying and he gave him some friendly advice and told him he was glad he got to see his family, etc. So everything is good. I guess whoever he talked to this morning had also told him he'd have to turn his truck in when he goes home but Brian said nope, he'd get to keep his truck :)

He never should have mentioned he was going to visit family on his 34.

Swift should have been left blind to everything. Screw them.

Why I hated resets. Only took them if I was getting burned out. But then again I did not have anyone to go home to also.

Buckeye, you are with Swift? Which terminal did you go to for training/orientation?

I work for Swift but never had this problem, I have taken 34's and still got my home time even when I did 34's near home. Like someone said they dont have to know every detail except that you need a 34. Tell your hubby next time to just say your taking a 34 and dont mention family. I never even call in to do it, I do the macro to change my pta and in comments say 34 and then sometimes I will send a freeform telling them im taking a 34 and then leave it at that.

the DM im working with for a couple months gives me a load going home every couple weeks for a 34 so I never really take "home time"

also you dont need 2 years to find something better, just 6-12 months and you can find higher paying places, I have been offered a job by 4 companies but i havent found the "right" one yet, I dont want to hop from 1 to another.

Yeah I really wish he would stay with Swift for a while because they really aren't a bad company and he can get more experience so next company he may start out making a little more. He's really wanting to do flatbed and Melton has been calling but we'll have to think about it. We don't jump into anything without a lot of research and he doesn't decide anything without discussing it with me first. Plus right now on the flatbed area they are talking about freight is already slowing down so that would be a concern too if he switched to flatbed.
