I called the TSA and she couldn't answer this. I could probably ask the DMV too. I am new to this and got my permit on Tuesday. I took more endorsements today and picked up the HazMat as well as Tanker, Double/Triple and Passenger, on top of the required (by the school) Air Brakes and Combination I did on Tuesday.

On the online application at the TSA website, it asks for a CDL number. I'm in MN. Do I use my current class D number or the CDLIS# on the permit?

i cannot answer for your particular state, only the ones i deal with and that is, your current drivers license number is the CDL number as well they do not change. BUT you need to ask your DMV if your current DL number will also be your CDL when you get it.

I ended up calling the DMV and it is the same number according to the gal at the DMV. So I finished up the TSA and went down and got finger printed.

yeah good. i actually kind of figured it would have been the same, but in the beginning i think some states, like Ohio and Mass i think...??? they had a different number, but i am not entirely sure it was Ohio/Mass, i'm tryin' to remember which state or states it was.

but in any event, good, you got it settled.
