So I'm planning on taking my CDL course in a few weeks during my paid time off at my current job, win win for me lol but I was wondering if there's a timeframe for getting your tuition paid by a company hiring you? For instance say I graduate and get my CDL but wait a few months to sign on with a trucking company, do they still pay what you owe? I don't want to screw myself getting this paid off for me! Thanks
Tuition reimbursement question?

There might be.Just how much of a time frame you talken? You should wait till you're ready to take the leap.If you wait too long after getting your CDL you may have to go thru class again.
-
A company that might hire you does not OWE you anything. That said, I'm sure tuition reimbursement (if offered) will vary widely by carrier. Some may have a dollar limit cap. Some may only reimburse for classes taken at select schools. Some may impose a time limit from school completion to hire date. But whatever the case, you can expect the reimbursement to be spread out over a considerable time.

I'm not thinking a long period of time I was just wondering if I were to wait a few months or so after graduation, will a company who offers reimbursement, still pick up the tab if I were to get hired a few months after grad or do I need to start trucking immediately?
-
I think like 3 months or so you'll be fine. But keep in mind you have to be with that company I think a yr to receive the full reimbursement and I think its like every 3 months you'll get part of the tuition. If you was to quit and go with another company you would not receive reimbursement.
-
From what I gather about any company wants you to hire on within 6 months of finishing the school and any company that offers reimbursement will probably honor it up until that same time frame.
-
Also make sure the company you plan on driving for honors that school. If that school isn't in the network you may not get reimbursed. Then there are other companies that will pay up to so much reimbursement.
-
That's what im thinken too because if a driver hasn't been driving for so many months they're required to take a refreshers course. So I wouldn't think it would be much different with a new CDL holder.

Recent Roadmaster grad. I posted about this on a thread I started. I went in totally blind and once I realized how that works I was just a bit bummed. Covenant pays me 125 a month for the reimbursement part. My monthly payment is 225. Werner pays the same monthly amount, BUT....at the 6mos mark they toss 750 to the principal of the loan and then at the year mark, another 750 to the principal. Weigh your options my friend. My first payment isn't due for a month or two, so I have time to either go with Covenant or find another company.

I would start contacting companies now. How about the school you plan on attending? Have you asked them what companies may work with them? This is a big deal so try to get it as done as you can now. One less thing to have on your mind when you are in school.
