An astatic noise canceling mike can be found for $29. If you ever need an antenna, get a Francis fiberglass, they’re only $15. The Cobra 29, along with the mike and antenna(s) will give good service at a good price. You could have the CB shop put a modulation kit in it. It’s a cheap trick, makes it sound like a “BIG” radio. A good little Wilson external speaker will make it sound a whole lot better in the Cab. Whole set ups less than $200. Should last for years. If something breaks, throw it out, buy another. Cheap enough.

Francis ant are crap..Astatic has turned to crap, better off with stock mic..
A modulation kit, sorry but it makes you sound louder but thats it..Its like buying a lambo kit for for a model t ford..All looks n no go...
Better off leavin the radio bone stock than let mr golden screw driver in it..I would leave radio stock, buy a fire stick before a francis and use stock mic as for the wilson speaker, wrong ohm rateing.....

    But thats me..

That’s for #### sure, I am still using my tuned Ranger from the 90’s . Also have a old Uniden PC 78 from late 80’s early 90’s
Both peeked and tuned. Not sure about new radios the last 20 years. Mics just plane suck

What's this modulation kit? Are you referring to an echo board?

I've run a bone stock Cobra 29 LTD Classic for years and never had any problems JMO but they are about bullet proof I just make sure I have good antennas ...I would not let and CB shop crack it open and "tune it ".. those are good radios right out of the box.... My opinion of most monkeys that run a CB shop is not good..they are like crack ho's they promise you a good time but just end up with your money.. if I ever had to use a shop it would be Chuck's CB Shop in Tennessee..

I really don’t know. They used to call it a mod kit, or a swing kit.
