I hate answers like this when asking mpg questions. We all know driving better will get us better MPG, but the Op was clearly asking about a product, not tips on how to drive.

That being said, It depends on the motor and what turbo you have. A friend of mine has wraps on his cat. he said its not really measurable but he thinks it helps. A lot of small non measurable things do add up to something measurable though.

mine will hit 40 pretty easily up a hill, but I may have turbo problems.

Theory being the hotter gasses will flow better than if they cool down and contract.

Same reason I think fat exhaust pipes are ridiculous. Even though they are probably too far down the exhaust stream to matter they belie this theory.

I could though to with it not hitting that high, then again it could be a variance in the gauges etc . These things have minds of their own

Gasses do not expand if they cool down. It's not turning to a liquid or a mass. Almost all things shrinks as it cools down.
And larger exhaust does not hurt economy and can actually help over to small of exhaust (rare).

    haha caught me! Fixed it.

But one way bigger exhaust hurts fuel economy is if they stick up in the airstream. A big fat pipe will catch more wind than a skinny 5 incher.

If I understand theroy correctly behind turbo blankets:
is keeping the turbo up to a more even temperture vs cooling down and heating up, thus keeping the turbo from absorbing the exhaust heat and slowing the exhaust down.
I would agree it's got to be better for the turbo. I'm just not sure if it increases flow. Though any increase of flow should increase turbo output thus increase power and economy.

I been hearing that by putting the blanket on it can retain enough heat to essentially cook the oil in the turbo . That's where I'm torn on the topic . I'd like to increase the performance but I also don't want to break anything in the process by over heating it. .

Now ow with that said PP claims 0.3 increase in economy by shielding the turbo so there has to be some premise behind the theory
