I have an 2007 780 with an D12, with auto shift, ( 567,678 miles )I was just wounding is there an blow valve on the turbo or on the upper / lower intercooler #pipes, I was getting a whoosh sound at medium and high boost (sound like a fan belt slipping on a alternator pulley )I thought I was losing some boost pressor through some blowoff valve or maybe I have a crack in the upper and lower intercooler pipes or fittings.

I do here that sound in question when I let off the fuel pedal in high boost, which I know is normal.
Should I be concerned about this noise or do I have a turbo problem or something else, any help on this matter would be great.

I was going to spray some starting fluid on the upper and lower intercooler pipes and hoses, also in front of the intercooler itself and see if the engine would raised the RPM, I was just wondering if this would work instead of chasing down every holes clamp.

Also dose this engine have any blow off valve for the turbo?

You can make yourself a product similar to this. An PVC pipe endcap works in lieu of the aluminum slug.

Pressure up the system with 8 or 10lbs of air pressure. Then spray everything down with soapy water. It will show you every little air leak in the system. Resist using more air pressure than that. Bad crap can happen lol :biggrin_25521:

Never tried finding leaks that way it might work but I Dought it you if you can't pressue check it u might have some power brake it to build up boost to get an idea of where its coming from

Well it turns out to be the power steering pump is making all the noise, when the turbo gets into high boots levels.

I was just wondering if any one else had this problem.....
