Does anyone have this problem or know why im having this problem?
Bought the truck in january of this year and about month and a half into the deal had to replace the
gasket thats between the turbo and the manifold but new cat bolts in and the next week turbo went so
in that mix they put another gasket and 4 new bolts in and about 2 months later im running in south
louisianna and the dang turbo literally almost fell off had the 2 loose bottom bolts holding it the top 2
are gone so i put another gasket and bolts in and this time we broke out the torque wrench and torqued to spec
and this time it lasted about 3 months and noticed last weekend 1 of the top bolts gone and today noticed part of the gasket is
gone ive been hearing the ticking of the leak but it wasnt very loud so assumed it was a band clamp im suspicious of.......
Its an 03' KW with the bridge cat if that makes any diffrence......
Im about ready to take this turbo and manifold off and order a borg warner turbo and new manifold and
use this junk for a boat anchor.....Its not that it costs and arm and a leg to replace the gasket and bolts
only $50-60 bucks but im getting tired of jacking with it every 2 or 3 months surely this isnt common?![]()

I've seen this happen when the wrong bolts are used or when drive pressure is up so high it's trying to force the gasket out. Since you have a bridge with a stock ECM and turbo this shouldn't be the problem. Does the truck still have the stock mufflers on it? If so the catylic converters maybe stopped up causing the high back pressure in the exhaust.
You will need to flash the ECM to a 6NZ or 7CZ file if you want to install a BW turbo. I would also remove the mufflers and use Donaldson M100463 in there place to lower exhaust back pressure. The only other thing that maybe creating your problem is the manifold or turbo flange has warped and you're not getting an even crush on the gasket. Go with a PDI manifold instead of a CAT -
yes the PDI fold is what im planning on going with intime.....the 1st 2 times i repeced gasket the truck still had
the mufflers and my egt ran up to 1200 with ease on hills but took mufflers off and went with straight pipes
about 2 weeks ago and it dropped my egt's a good 200 degrees but it possibly could've been blown before i straight
piped it i cant really say yes or no on that.....guna replace this sucker 1 mo time and see what it does if she goes again
its comeing off......and the new is going on i should go ahead and do it anyway and stop wasteing time and money and
get the goods......
PS ive used the cat bolts everytime i replaced gasket i was told they were special heat treated or something -
Yes the CAT bolts are a special heat treated alloy designed for this application. Always use CAT bolts to install a turbo. Once you get the PDI manifold it will come with special studs and nuts to install the turbo. -
an old boss of mine used non cat bolts years ago and guess what they broke. I would by cat bolts use anti sieze on the threads and install new gasket as stated above, good luck, oh yes check the faces for warp's

how does the pdi manifold stand up to the rest? full tilt, pitt power, bully dog,etc....

If your letting a shop do the refit, be sure to tell them all this too. And a Q: Is 1200 EGT an everyday thing for you or just a rare bird on a hard pull?
