Fuel slobber is caused by low combustion tempatures, it can be caused by low coolant tempature, or the timing advance could be leaking or not shifting properly.
They are an engine that needs to be worked on with Knowledge and care. They have a lot of areas that leak, the injectors even new ones will leak, the wishbones will crack the nylon conectors will crack, the "O" rings on the conector and wish bone will leak. The timing advance will bind and or the diaphram will become porous.
They were one of my favorite engines to work on because you had to know what you were doing they are not cheap to fix because you have to find all the leaks, and may have to take it apart a few times to find them all.
To find the leaks you solvent wash the top of the engine, disconect the hose from the STC galley conection at the back of the motor, fill the line with ATF and preasurize it write down all the leaks, wash it off again refill the hose with ATF and repreasurize looking for more leak. Repair all the leaks reassemble and retest, the re-repair the leaks again some times many times. Then rebuild and adjust the STC valve, assemble and test, You want to fill the hose and galley with oil before you start it or it will smoke you out of the building.
When you do the valve set and when you have the push tubes out look down at the Rocker box looking for broken roller shafts, they will show copper if broken. Cam damage is also a posible cause, if the valves are not opening properly.
Spell check is not working.
Just a thought!
