Turn Signal Issue on 1980 359 Pete

I have an issue where after starting the truck the red light on the center of the signal stat is on (red). After the first use of the turn signal, left or right when I return the signal handle to center the flasher keeps flashing and the red light in the center of the signal stat flashes. I recently replaced both the turn signal wiring harness and signal stat (comes plug and play from Dirks) and the headlight/turn signal/parking light harness from the cab to the hood. This issue pre-existed the new harnesses. The harness to the tail lights has been disconnected for debugging. The trailer wiring harness has also been disconnected. I even tried disconnecting the headlight/turn/parking harness to the hood. I also disconnected the brake light switch on the air manifold. The turn signal light indicators on the dash work as expected as do the green signal lights on the signal stat switch. Thoughts?

 

Yes, the 4-ways do work when engaged even when the flasher is flashing without being invoked. The new signal stat harness has a 3 prong flasher.

 

Thanks for the tip. I will pull it apart can check the connections. Not sure if Dirks builds these in their shop or they buy them, but I will also call them on it. Note: this was also an issue with previous signal stat switch which makes me think it´s something else.
