My turn signal lever switch doesnt like to always work on LEFT turns. If you crank on it (pull it down hard to the lower left) then it starts working.
So, I figured I would replace it. Can I do this w/o taking off the steering wheel, and if so, how? - The plastic collar doesnt seem to come off yet it only looks like a simple 2 piece thingy...

Is it the standard Grote switch? Maybe a picture would help.

The Grote ones just bolt or screw on a bracket welded to the column. The plug on our Freighliner had a retaining screw too.

Dam, I had thought it could be done w/o pulling the wheel. Of course thats what Toyota said had to be done and I did it w/o pulling the wheel...

I just replaced mine, and yes you have to pull the steering wheel. The part from KW is about $100. Also make sure you don't break the plastic guard under the steering wheel, it's $75 from KW. :biggrin_25513:

I got a price of $47 on this part...Hmm. Maybe they only quoted me the plastic arm!!!

PS. I am sure I will break the plastic guard. I have that luck :biggrin_25524:

It seems this is a common problem with KW, mine has it too, but is the right turn that don't work.

Depending on what your steering column looks like you may or may not have to pull it. I have an '01 that had the old dash and it required wheel removal but the '02 and up doesn't (newer dash design). If you do pull the wheel make sure you put it on straight or it will annoy the hell out of you, ask me how I know this! :biggrin_25523:

oh hell, its crooked as it is. Once I get the kingpins done and aligned, then I will fix the steer ahead. The wheel is like 7 and 2 right now.
