I just got turned down by Schneider due to the only accident with another car in 30 years of driving. Now I have to wait 3 years before I can re-apply with them.
Any suggestions? Will any company take an inexperienced drive with a recent accident, no ticket?
Turned down... Now what?

The kicker seems to be "Preventable Accidents"... depending on the situation, if the accident was other than what the classify as "Preventable" you may be able to get into another company, however I'd provide full details of the accident with proof of not at fault with your application.
-
If it was your fault and/or preventable, forget about driving until it clears off your record. This is because you don't want to work for a company that will hire one with a tainted driving record. These companies are desperate and must hire such drivers, and they got desperate by treating drivers like dirt and those drivers quit 'em. Trust me--you want no part of that.

would you care to give us the details of the accident?
maybe we could help you word it better next time? -
I included a copy of the accident report with my application, thinking it was not a big deal since I did not get a ticket. I was turning right on a green light at the bottom of an interstate exit. A car ran the red light and the lady in front of me panicked and slammed on the brakes instead of pulling to the right. I hit my brakes immediately and still tagged her bumper. The damage was minimal, (a little plastic bumper damage), and there were no injuries.
She told the cop about the car that ran the red light, that's probably why he didn't give me a ticket. Unfortunately, I should have known better, because I take this exit every day and there are accidents there all the time, because for whatever reason people stop when they don't have to. Since the light was green I let my guard down not thinking that the car in front would stop. -
If there was no ticket, how is it on your record?
Not on your record, don't say anything. -
People are confused about who runs the Earth Asylum.
One must think like a For-Profit-Corporation.
Here's the real question: Did you cost anybody any money($$)?
If anybody ever wants to know who's "at fault" in a collision, call your insurance company. The one that pays (after the subrogation dust settles )is "at fault." Again, getting a citation has NOTHING to do with this.
Anytime an insurance claim is filed, ALL the info is put into NICB.
Anytime something is written, it can be found! "Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of your life" - LOL!!
ALL the info means everything on the reports including DL's, SSN's, vehicles/VIN's, damages, citations, claims filed, etc. I disagree with Ronnocomot on not saying anything. If ANY elec/paperwork was filed in relation to a collision (repairs, insurance claims (medical and repair), etc.) there WILL be a elec/paper trail. And somebody will find it. Then you will have falsified an employment document, which can come back to haunt you your entire career. Accidents "go away" in 3-5 years. Falsified employment documents do not "go away." How would you like THAT on a DAK report?
I would suggest, though, that you NOT send a copy of the incident report with your applications unless it is asked for. I think you shot yourself in the foot with that. Again, read the narrative portion and look at the diagrams. Try to see what the for-profit corporation saw. Will you make money or cost money? Are you a good risk? What if you had been in their truck($$)?

Thanks for the informative reply. Everything you say makes good sense. Yes, I did cause damage, about $1000 worth of plastic. If I did the same thing in a commercial rig, I hate to think of what it would be, in addition to the injuries that I am sure would have resulted. This whole experience has really caused me to think about my driving. If I wasn't in such a hurry I would have left enough room for an escape route and time for braking, which is my usual practice.
I believe I have been an excellent driver over the past 30 years and now this accident is on my record. My O/O friend suggested I get an abstract of my driving record, get my CDL through Fox Valley Technical College and apply at the company he leases to. I will stop in and see what they have to say before making the decision. -
werner took me even tho I had an at fault rear-ender in a postal van at work in 2005. there was minimal damage no injuries and no police involvement per the request of the other party (no insurance)
I guess they took me at my word that I had an accident, I don't know if they checked up on it or not.
