I just thought about it in terms of degrees of trailer rotation per foot of curb length, and stuck the numbers in. Calculating the difference in truck and tandem radii would be a bit thornier.![]()

Radii is plural of radius.

I'll turn on a 90° straight curb angle as long as I have enough real estate in the opposing lanes to complete the turn if that's where I gotta go. If that means I have to jam up the entire intersection until four wheelers GTFOOMW then so be it.
If you are trying to keep trucks from certain routes "NO TRUCKS on So & So St." signs paced well in advance of the turn would be better than designing rodent mazes for truckers.
Of course that's just my POV as an experience driver who can read English. The majority of illiterate cretin seat warmers may very well be better off treated as rodents!
What is a "bump out"? Is that where the right turn lane cuts through the curb line?
EDIT: Google bump out - curb extensions for pedestrians or storm drains.
A bump out would require more room to avoid running over but also would help keep any four wheelers from cutting inside during your turn.
Not sure about confidence. If I see a turn I know I can't make I just don't do it.Last edited: Jan 9, 2014
