Oh. That's exactly what I have done when there was much oncoming traffic preventing my lefturn. Gracias.
What's da "Jersey exit shuffle"?
Turning left from a two-lane road, I'll move intopposing lane.

Good good good. That's the way ALL 4 wheelers should do it. Especially slow-moving minivans that have already cost me 20 minutes on my e-log by making me get stuck behind them for the previous 40 miles while they idle along at 55 mph enjoying the scenic corn fields.
-
To save fuel and pollution I often drive 50 to 55 mph always in the right lane and am passed by semis all the time.
On single-lane roads, I go the speed limito not slow anyonelse down. -
By doing that you are creating two obstacles you have to hurdle instead of the original one. Your waiting and opposing traffic has cleared and now you have to wait for the people passing you on the left so you can make your left turn? Time it wrong and see what happens. Better to just give advance notice and do what ya gotta do when you can, in my opinion.

Saw it first in Jersey, no turns allowed ffrom left lane on undivided or divided highways without ramps. All turns are accomplished from right lane with a u turn on the exit, and a traffic light to stop traffic on the main road for a left trn or U turn. PA is doing it in some places and there are others. US 22 east of Pittsburgh has this..

The advantage is that my little vehicle is not causing many semis and other vehicles to slow and possibly stop while I wait for an opening in opposing traffic so that I can complete my lefturn.
I go right and wait out of everyone's way.
When a break (opening) occurs, I move back into the lane and turn left. -
If you find one on GooglEarth, could you link it here?
Thank you. -
Do you have a mini-van, or is it a Subaru Forester with a bicycle rack on top and an "Al Gore is my hero" sticker on the back?
Robert Gift Thanks this. -
They call that a "jug handle". First saw them in NJ too, and it really screwed me up because I was a rookie and I was always half-lost, had not idea why I had to turn right in order to make a left.

2008 4WD Expedition with aggressive winter tires mounted on their own 17" wheels. Now OEM 18" rims with original M&S tires are on.
Wife has Camry Hybrid.
I bicycle as much as possible and try to be as green as practical.
Hate Al Gore.
I do hug trees.
