Start your turn when the center marker light on the trailer reaches the corner/curb/object you are turning around... i.e. when half your trailer is past the corner, start turning. The tandem setting will make a small difference too, just watch the trailer in the mirror and steer the tandems.

This may sound goof, but it helps..........buy yourself a toy truck and practice with it, you'll get a better understanding of the concept

Swing left before turning right if it a 2 lane rd and turning on 2 lane rd about 20 feet before making the turn cut it left go on the wrong side of the road make your turn stay in the wrong lane till you no you won't run over the curb you'll have to have at least half of the other lane both ways to make a some what tight turn if there's a pole on the curb take the whole lane but watch out for fools trying to pass you wile turning

If you can't swing left before turning, be in the left-most portion of your lane. Pull as far forward as you can before cranking the wheel. This works best when turning from a single to a double lane road. For single lane to single lane, in many cases you'll have two swing out left if possible, as mwild described above.

And pray no one tries to cut you off like happened to me when I took my test.
I was already committed in my turn and some yahoo in a pickup came flying out of a driveway and tried to beat me to the corner. I knew I had no choice but to roll the curb. I said to the examiner ######, I gotta take the curb. After rolling it I just knew I was gonna fail. We parked on the ramp, did my my verbal on mountain driving. I asked him if I had racked up enough points to fail cause of the curb......he chuckled and asked how my backing was....I was honest told him 50 50 chance I get it right:biggrin_25523:

Long story short ( too late:biggrin_25525:) I passed he even told me that there was nothing else I could've done except take the curb and by not stopping and creating a road block I passed. I do not suggest trying this at home kiddies:biggrin_2559:

You lucked out with your examiner, as here it would have been an automatic fail for going up on a curb, and "we'll see you tomorrow". For some reason the examiners here like to use that phrase a lot!!!

And for impeding traffic, it is an automatic fail, and "see you here tomorrow". Our instructors warned us about impeding traffic at an intersection when testing, but sometimes the 4 wheeler is in a big hurry and will sneak up on you from behind and impede your moving and then you get failed for impeding traffic......don't ask me how I know this. :biggrin_25512:
