I want to buy a tv dvd combo for my truck and have in mind what I want brand wise, but don't think it will stand up to the vibration and and jarring of the worst roads in the world here in America. There are companies that make tv's for trucks that are designed to take the abuse, but I can't find them on the internet, any help would be appreciated.

Also my truck is new and has an inverter so can I just plug the tv up like at home or do I need a tv that will match the output of the inverter, the inverter is 1800 watts i believe.

I have a regular store bought Sylvania TV/DVD combo...works great, no issues from the the road. Just keep it secure. It just plugs into the inverter and draws what it needs.

    KRAKAJACKJONSON Thanks this.

I have a Haupage card for my laptop. Works great and I don't have to carry another large screen in the limited space of the truck. It also works well as a DVR.

I picked up a 19" flat screen at Walmart along with a separate dvd player. I don't like combos since if one goes bad you have to replace both. Bought the flat screen last summer and haven't had any problems. Bought the dvd player years ago also with no problems.

Most 19 to 22 inch tv's will run fine off a 500 watt inverter.
I have mine and a DVD player both plugged into it.

I use my big inverter for the fridge and microwave.

I have a flat screen with the small plastic base.
I made a piece of metal that uses the wall mount holes on the back of the tv and beefed up the base with it.
Over 3 years now and no problem with the tv.

You could just lay it on the bunk while driving.
That will protect it from the vibrations and bouncing.

In my truck I have a 32" led tv minutes to the ceiling with a custom mount so it swings down directly behind the seats at what I consider perfect viewing height. I chose led over lcd because they negate the need for a backlight making them lighter and thinner. The mount is made of steel I bought at a ace we parked beside one night. It consist of a round bar on top with loops bent from a peice of flat aluminum, the loops bolt to two hollow square rods that come down to bolt to a flat peice of 16 guage welding steel, the tv bolts to the flat piece with the holes built in for wall mounting it. The tv cost about 400 and we spent about 75-125 in matierials of course I used all grade 8 bolts with lock washers on both the nut and bolt side because I am paranoid. As for vibration in between the flat steel sheet and the tv are pieces of foam to dampen vibrations. At night we lift the tv up against the ceiling and star it up using a coupme of 15 dollar straps also from ace, took me about 20 minutes to put it together. While we drive the tv is up top out of the way using the straps and foam to absorb vibrations and at night it takes about 30 extra seconds to lower it to watch tv or play ps3. Keep in mind this is not an option for company drivers because we had to cut 2 slots for the bar and drill 4 holes for the straps but if you own your own truck it is simple. It doesn't look pretty but it works and saves some valuable space in the truck while allowing for a larger tv I am confident that if we wanted to we could go as large as 50" but the 32 works just perfect.if you would like pm me with an email address and i can send you pictures
