Do not need to apply. Will need once hired. Also will have to have a certified copy of Birth Certificate if no passport.
robbiecox6 Thanks this. -

Not sure what Prime's policy is about getting the TWIC ID but you can do it yourself >> Transportation Worker Identification Credential
You don't need a passport unless your planning on crossing the borders. If you do, they probably have a FAST account setup for the trucks and then you would need a FAST ID.
Personally, I would do it on my own then rather let a company handle it. -

TSA established an office at the terminal in Springfield because of the numbers of folks employed with Prime who have to obtain a TWIC credential. That being said, it is a major convenience to deal with it at Springfield, since you MUST return to the same location you applied for it at in order to pick it up. Lotsa truck parking, drop the load on the yard, get the card, hit driver's lineup for an outbound load. Done.
When I got mine, I did it on the road at a location convenient to a number of our common freight lanes... figured that'd help. NOT. That was one major royal pain to get routed to the same place twice (under load of course,) arriving on a weekday, early enough to park the trailer at a secure drop yard, get to the office before closing, get my business done, recover the trailer, get on my way... AND (there's more sportsfans!) arrive at my destination in a timely NOT LATE manner. It took me 7 months and a number of failed attempts to get it done.
What's that? Take the trailer and load with? That wasn't a good idea... saw some folks getting expensive parking tickets for doing just that.
As for the passport, its required by Prime these days - and there are a couple of US Post Office locations in the Springfield area you can get that done at.robbiecox6 and Everett Thank this. -
I was in Galveston a few weeks back, no TWIC cost $70.00 as an escort fee.... Looked like half of them had to pay...
