Is it customary in trucking to give a two week notice when you have gotten another job or not? I'm planning on leaving my current job in 2 weeks when I'm due to go home for my hometime but I'm worried that they will do something to screw over my hometime or something if I give notice so I'm not too sure if I should or just be done when hometime comes?

Always best to give the good old two week notice, and return equipment to one of their terminals.

    WAT>!

You are wasting all of our time.

First you say should I this and then you destroy the problem by saying this no need to worry about going home.

Turn you two weeks notice. Turn IN THE TRRRUUUCCCK at the home ternimal then GO HOME.

    Be happy, be well.

DO NOT. quit and leave truck outside or on road. DAC will be written up two ways from sunday and your driver days are over.

Has this company in the past given you reason to believe they will screw with you? If so don't give notice and quit when at the terminal next. If not give notice. It's always better to leave on good terms.
Also make sure your hometime is a couple days before the new job starts. It would suck not making the new job if your truck broke down.

    DTP Thanks this.

I wouldn't give a notices, companies don't appreciate it and could care less.Just quit while you're on home time. But you will have to bring trk back.So if you call dispatch when you get home tell him you're cleaning your trk out that's plenty of notice.

If you're a professional, give them 2 weeks notice.

In that case, forget a 2 week notice and enjoy your new job. The old company won't even remember your name in 48 hours.
