I am curious on the types of CDL jobs are out in the oil fields other than water, sand, and or crude. I have about 18 months on my CDL with over 3 years working as a yard jockey (started making runs once I got my Class A) and as of late, I've been working as a transit bus driver (actually pays pretty decent). I am looking for a change of pace and to get out of Florida for a while.

You can work for company that actually build the pad, and the lease road, lots of drop deck and low boy hauling. Or work for a fuel company, they haul diesel fuel out to the drilling rigs, and frac sites. Hauling drilling pipe, casings, chemicals, etc., all sorts of stuff to haul.

I'd stay with the stage coach. Bus drivers are in such high demand, they are cancelling routes. If I was a younger man, there's no question I'd drive a stage coach today. A little puke in the aisle pales in comparison to what a truck driver has to put up with today.

Put up in a hotel every night and flown around for free on the clock. Between 3 locations we only had about 25 people in the whole companysurf_avenue, JoeyJunk and RockinChair Thank this. -
The fuel haulers taking red and clear diesel to frac sites get paid pretty well. Also, many of the companies that handle diesel are also getting into Compressed Natural Gas. From what I hear, the CNG haulers are purely drop & hook.
