I've been with Schneider for a little over a year now. Never did this kind of work so long before. I'm a company solo driver and we drive at 60 mph. Unlike most companies, our trucks aren't governed at our cruising speed. I can go 65, but we're only allowed to do that up to 5% of the time for passing slow people (less than 60), or going down a hill. Any more than that and we lose some on our quarterly bonus.
Anyway since I drive at 60 so often a lot of drivers pass me. Hundreds every day. I've noticed a trend in trucker types.
25% of truckers are going so fast that they zoom right past me and move over 300 feet down the road.
25% of truckers are governed to 61 or 62, takes like three minutes to pass me (a lot of cars building up behind them). They want to get over in front of me so bad to please the car drivers, they leave only 30 to 45 feet between the rear of their trailer and the front of my tractor. We have the Onguard system and this maneuver makes my brakes come on. These days I slow way down and let these guys pass me quickly.
25% pass me pretty well, but then as soon as they get about 40 feet ahead, they match my speed and put their turn signal on. It's like they lack the power to change lanes and go faster at the same time. So they will cut over and throw my Onguard system on again.
25% are the most nicest and professional truckers I have ever seen. They pass you by about 150 feet, put their turn signal on and wait for you to flash your high beams to give them permission to move over. It's amazing how many truckers are going to this maneuver. If I could go faster than 60 I would do it too.
A message to the drivers that can only drive 0.5 to 1 mph faster than me: It's just not worth it to pass me. You might get to your destination a minute faster, but create a nuisance every time you pass someone.

We are governed at 63 and I pass a few Schneider trucks from time to time.
Personally I like to wait til a downgrade to do it so I can get up to 70.
The biggest issue is that if I go faster than 70 my computer logs me as speeding even if the speed limit is 75. I think other companies must do the same but at lower speeds because I will sit behind a truck doing 60 and on downhill I will let it coast but the truck ahead of me won't let it get above 60-65. So I gotta ride my brake when I should be able to let gravity do its thing and save me some mpg. In that case I am gonna "slowly" pass you at the first chance I get.
At least your willing to slow down a little to help the other truck pass. Most will try to keep you from passing it seems.Jubal3 and White_Knuckle_Newbie Thank this.

You don't seem to understand how truly annoying that is at night to be looking in the mirror trying to decide if we've left you sufficient space when all of a sudden BLAMMO we're seeing stars as those bright lights bounce off our mirrors. I'd rather you not do ANYTHING...but if you are, simply dim your headlights (leave the running lights on) and then turn them back on.
And for those of you who like to signal 2' after my ICC bumper has cleared your hood, that is equally stupid. Why would you WANT anybody coming back into the lane that soon, blocking your view of what is ahead and eliminating any and all hope of your being able to avoid ANYTHING that might happen until they've pulled away?

Yea he makes sense but the problem is mega trucks aren't respected on the road especially if they're slowwwww. That big logo on the back of your trailer is the source of the problem.rachi Thanks this.

I seen drivers get out of their truck parked in the fuel island and walk around asking people for a few buck's to help them out . Then get in their truck parked in the fuel island and drive away
