Walstib, if the truck hadn't been so heavy then the wheels would have locked up! You are lucky you weighed a good bit. That kept the wheels at least turning. Of course if you weren't so heavy you may not have gotten in that situation but nonetheless.
What counts is, you're alive and have gained some valuable experience through trial and error! That's the best kind! From here on out you will never wonder what happens if you run out of air.
Glad you're ok man.... unfortunately close calls are part of the biz and you just have to do your best to minimize them. Take care man.... drive safe....
U learn something new everyday, better at someone else's expense, here's 1 at mine 4U

To answer some points.
I'm 99% sure 35 mph was for my weight. If it was 25 for my weight, that is what I was trying to do and mistyped, but I think I'm right. I couldn't hold 25 without constant braking either. It wanted to go regardless of speed, other than braking, nothing was stopping it.
Im all eyes for techniques not using the jake. How do you keep it from instantly picking up speed? I tried it in 4L, 5L and 6L, what can you do to keep Rpms from flying up without constant braking? If it ever happens again I'd like another option. -
Stay on top of the speed, once the desired speed is attained don't let it get more than 3-4 mph over and brake down to 5 mph below your desired speed, repeat as needed...rinse out shorts at the bottom as the breaks are cooling before continuing on. In this you are blending rpm's and speed keeping both within their respective limits. -
It's always a good idea to check the jake brake to see if it works. Personally, I always test mine out as I pull into the truck stop parking lot at night.

Ive been a commercial pilot since 2000, I've had 2 engine failures, 1 vacuum failure in the clouds(very not good thing to happen) and had to land one on its belly due to landing gear failure but none of those scared me like this. I thought it valuable for others to learn from my close call.
