An interesting thread. We had a number of respondents employed with USX (past and present) who responded to our recently released study results concerning Shills in the Trucking Industry. -
From what I have heard out there in my otr road adventures. The company is owned by someone in the Parker Family. That someone is the mom of David Parker and his brother. This is the same family that owns Covenant Transport. As legend and folklore has it. Both brothers at one time both ran Covenant Transport. Then the two brothers had an arguement, then mama got the brother whose name I dont know run USX, while David Parker runs Covenant. I cannot verify if this is a fact just what I have heard

I heard the same story many years ago as to how Knight was started after a fight between jerry moyes and his brother at Swift. The two companies used to share the same fence in phoenix

I agree w/u that alot of driver's complaints are from their own ignorance. I've only been in trucking 1 yr., but have been around long enough to read between the lines. Anyway, just started working for USxpress 3-4 weeks ago as an established team. We have had more 34 hr. resets already from just sitting, with no freight available, than we had in the last year put together. The pay is good, but they can promise $10 a mile when you're getting no miles.
And the communication is absolutely ridiculous. Almost nonexistent. The stupid, cheap, driver tech box is disfunctional 90% of the time and forget calling. On hold for lengthy amounts of time, then disconnected 1/2 the time after that. At least the music they play while on hold is good. lol. Their directions suck. Here's an example-I-40, I-20,-1-76, i-267. Whatever the case may be. No N,S,E, or W. No amount of miles on each or what location the next hwy. changes at. Impossible.
I am very disappointed so far, but will hang in there for a while longer. I came from CREngland, which is a much more organized and professional co. than this one. Everyone gripes about England, but I enjoyed working there. They kept us running and communication was great. Just didn't pay enough. -
when you get the I-40, I-20, I-76, I-267, that's not directions it's call a route and is part of your trip planning... you do know how to plan a trip right.... when you are going from city A to city B that is the list of major roads (state route, u s highways and interstate's) you are to use from city to city. so pull out your map and PLAN YOUR TRIP.
when you send mac 46 and get directions into a shipper don't get mad at usx if you don't like what you get back because usx didn't enter the directions a driver just like you did......
as to all the 34's,, loads nose dived after thanksgiving and will be slow for about 4-6 more weeks, it's just that time of year. do you both have has-mat..? if not that will cut your miles alot..
i was a company solo/team for 7 years and o/o for 2 years
