LOL..when I was working the ER, in Reno, NV (Washoe Med Cntr) medic called in enroute with 17 yr old male, gunshot wound, Pt stable all signs in normal zone...medic arrived, and I got to do patient eval.
17 yr old male, pulse ...pupils...chief complaint? burning sensation in Rt thigh. Upon exam by MD, patient was showing off to girl friend daddy's 44 mag, shoved it down his pants, and as he went to pull his hand clear, grazed the trigger and BANG, penetrating, self cotterizing, through and through puncture of scrotum and Rt testicle, bullet then penetrated Rt thigh followed the femur down with exit wound clean and unremarkable below Rt knee cap.
In surgery, (I got to go and watch..slow night in ER) when they opened the scotum, this thing about the size of a soft ball (excuse the pun) flopped out, needless to say he did lose his Rt testicle, but his girl friend was informed that their plans for children were still OK, since the left testicle was uninjured, and still producing its necessary function.
Pt had only one request upon entering the ER...naturally trying to hide his embarrasment, he asked the prettiest nurse if she would "kiss his booboo better" he was very lucky the nurse had a sense of humor!
u see another driver tailgating a 4-wheeler, what do u do?

Took a 16 yr old female after a car accident. Had a head injury. Grandmother in the front seat of the ambulance. Female EMT I in back with me. Trauma. Had to cut the clothes off and when I got to the undies, I was redder than they were. Heard about it from the EMT I and then all of the nurses at the trauma center.
Told the nurse I did not get my license to cut clothes off girls like some of the guys. -
I was an EMT/Paramedic back in 77-80. I quit after I had to carry a five year old boy out of a bar ditch in two pieces. His father was a DWI and killed the mom and boy. No seat belts on anyone. I was pregnant at the time and I stepped off the unit that morning and never went back. I do not envy you Roadmedic....not one bit.
Roadmedic Thanks this. -
Some are crosses I have to see within 2 miles of my home. Others are just places I have to go by when I am home.Texas-Nana Thanks this. -

Well I salute you for the job you do....don't envy you but respect you for it. -
I worked a accident where a 16 year old boy was killed. I will try to find the newspaper clip of the scene. I was standing there waiting on the word to hook. You could not tell what what kind of car it was. He hit a pick up head on. We had to winch the steering wheel back when they was cutting him out. We helped pull him out. His legs was broke in about 30 places. On his back bumper I will never forget the bumper sticker. In search of a eternal buzz. I reckon he found it. I took pics of the car and truck when we got them back to the yard. Hard to believe what they looked like.

We also got a call on a guy that called his girlfriend from down the road. He said look outside. He gave her time to get to the window and put his buick in the middle of a big old tree in her front yard. The speedo was pegged and stuck there on impact. Most wrecks like that the insides exit the body's orfice on impact of the steering wheel. You can imagine what the front seat looked like.
