u see another driver tailgating a 4-wheeler, what do u do?

I had some idiot 4 wheeler pass me the other day and before he cleared me came back over. I could not even see his bumper. I passed the idiot back and stayed out to pass another slow moving vehicle ahead of him. No one behind me as I was about to pass the other one; this fool decided to gouge on it and try to re-pass me on the right and pass the car I was passing. I kicked it in and took my time passing the lead car. The next time that fool passed me he made sure there was distance between me and him before he cut back over.

 

I didn't read all the posts here, but I'll tell you what we experienced and how we handled it.

Don't remember where we were. Three Lane highway with stopped traffic. We were moving inch by inch. We were in the the granny lane. Another truck in the middle, right beside us and a car in the fast lane, trying to get over . As soon as the car moved over in front of the the other truck, the trucker got mad and started ramming into the car. Banging her, banging her , pushing her car into the rear of a truck in front of her , hitting his rear bumper. She started screaming and crying from the top or her lungs. She had a convertible.
My Husband threw his brakes on, and said he was going out there to see if she was okay. At the same time, I wrote down all the information on the drivers door..
The driver got on his CB and in a low voice to me,, " Stay Out of It".
My husband had the women move her car in front of our truck.
We called the State Police. There wasn't much they could do, since we were just about over the state line. And they couldn't get to us in bumper to bumper traffic.
So we called information for the phone number to the Scale House that we new we were coming to. All trucks must go through the Scale House, my husband said. We told them what we witnessed and gave them the info on the truck.

We felt if this driver got away with this,, on his way back down to Florida, he may have another "cow" and do it again to someone else.
The womans car had minor damage in the front and rear.. We told the woman to go to the scale house.
The scale house pulled the driver in. We stopped there too.. seen her car parked there and the truck was pulled over into the lot. They Got him.
From that point on,, we don't know what happened afterwards.
We just then went on our merrily way.
Just think! What if that was someone in your family that was in that car!!

Please! Always consider that!

 

I get on the radio, and say the following....."Boy, and drivers wonder why 4-wheelers hate semi trucks so bad when idiots like you think they need a VW for a hood orniment..."

then say something about how i dont really want to have to try to avoid a wrecking car and semi truck. Especially if the truck is a tanker truck hauling fuel.

 

For the person in front of you chances are pretty good it's intimidating. More importantly it could be very distracting.

As for the person doing it, well, you know what they say about doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different result.

20 times a minute, what the hell are you thinking? Do you think they didn't hear you the first time? The only difference between what you're doing and a child throwing a tantrum when they don't get what they want immediately is the potential consequences.

 

ACK!! I blew the airhorn at a 4 wheeler yesterday. I admit it I was furious. The dweeb pulled onto the freeway in front of me and then braked down to 15 mph. I almost hit him. I don't mean I tried......I mean I almost couldn't stop in time.

*sighs*

 

BUT YOU HAVE 18 BRAKES.......

But I was hauling 44,775!


Sheeesh it was going down hill too!

 

With such a light load and all, you should have had no problem stopping on a dime.

 

Welcome Nana, you have been baptised into trucking! Hopefully now you see why at any intersection, on ramp, off ramp, any place two vehicles have the capacity to try and share the same place...you the professional need to be the defensive coordinator for the play!

Problem with these horns on these new trucks, THEY AREN'T REAL HORNS!

Give me my w900, or the Pete with the true AIR HORN, mount it down on the side level with the windows of a 4 wheeler, pointed right at em, and when that moron on the phone pulls along side....TESTING-TESTING-TESTING.....HANG UP THE FONE PHOOL!
