Don't to to Michigan then. Many places where you will have to do retail delivery, there is no other option. They set the roads up so that a U-turn is the preferred and only method to get to many locations. Granted, they do have a very wide half moon area on the side of the road for a truck, they planned for it.
U-turns: the thread that shouldn't have to exist!

I could not watch the whole thing, I was cringing thinking about all the damage he was doing to that poor truck.
-
My feeling exactly.
I usually wouldn't do this to a fellow driver, but had I been the one to film that vid I would have emailed it to the company. I wouldn't want such a knucklehead on the same roads as the rest of us. -
There is a vast difference between a Michigan left turn and the all too common 'turn so tight the trailer is backing up' u-turn. It frankly disgusts me that trucking has devolved to the point where that is far too many driver's first option. Whether it be in a TS lot or a two-lane road, those overly tight u-turns are uncalled for unless there is no other option.
Find a spot on the wrong side at the truck stop? You circle around until you're not blind-siding.
Going the wrong way on a two-lane? T-turn at an intersection.
Most guys my age wouldn't dream of such turns, both because we learned in trucks that wouldn't turn that tight (not even the cabovers,) and we understand how hard it is on equipment. Not too mention all the other drivers who would be quick to let you know how foolish a maneuver it was. Now, no one even understands why it's a bad idea because no one in their training lineage ever had enough experience to teach them any better.
Like Pete says..... ~SIGH..... -

Bullheadedness can sometimes be an admirable quality. But not in that case...

I'd love to hear what he told his fleet manager when all that was over.

The GPS said I was good.
