Thats who is giving us info. Its not a real put together place honestly. My husband is way to trusting..since they are soo nice.. We have applied to countless local companies too. Some companies we are like 100 miles to far in their hiring areas.

Check out US Xpress if ya havn't already. I know they have/had a big terminal out of Colton, CA

As far as pay is concerned, 34k a year is about what an "Average" first time driver will make at a large carrier. I dont want to critique your life style but you may want to consider a life-style change. Google Dave Ramsey for some inspiration/help with that.

    good luck

Do you have prewire letters from Swift or anyone? If so the school might consider their responsibility done.

The problem is that not every new soldier gets to be a colonel right off the bat.... ;)

You and your husband might need to rethink your family budget as he goes through the first year or two of trucking. Companies like Swift are called "starter companies" for a reason, it's because they hire inexperienced drivers and train them. The majority of trucking companies require experience. In order to get that experience your husband needs to start somewhere. While there are lots of folks on this forum that say new drivers should beat the bushes and find those high paying jobs and completely avoid working for starter companies, the truth is the majority of new drivers will need to start their career with a starter company. It's the reality of the situation.

Get the experience, then play "work up" either within the company or going to a new company. After one year a lot of companies can hire your husband (with a clean record), after two years the majority of companies will hire him, and after three years almost all companies can hire him. As a newbie the options are more limited.

Another change you might want to consider making is to let the perspective employe do the actual leg work. If he doesn't want to, that tells a story in it's self, if he lacks the computer skills help him overcome that. Just trying to be of some help here.

Try CTI, they are always looking up here in Reno any ways. Also, take a look at Prime, I know alot will bash me on it, but they pay pretty good .42cpm to start in a LW. Interstate is always looking to it seems like, makes me wonder why lol. Good luck.

Conway is good, I wish I'd started here. That .30 is just the pay right out of training, it ramps up to .36 or .37 by the end of the first year...

But I hear they are now putting drivecams in student trucks for the first 6 months. You may want to confirm that with recruiting, but I know I personally would not work (and live!) under constant surveillance.

This is what I was going to say as well, Was the school he went to an Accredited School? If not then I would have certainly checked that before he went there, there are schools that you sit there and tell jokes all day and after the time is up they and you down and you get the License but there is a minimum that should be learned, That is where the accreditation comes into play.
Why did Watkins and Shepard turn him down? they seldom turn anyone down! I'm just curious. Good Luck.

He went to an accredited school. During the time he went a new owner bought it. Watkins and shepherd was not hiring in our area. We are 200 miles to far.. :/

OK, you need to understand that is "trucking journey" is in its infancy right now. He is gonna have to learn to take baby steps before walking, before running. . .
SWIFT isn't the best outfit in the world, but if they will hire him, it is a step in the right direction. And if they are the ONLY ones that will hire him, then perhaps they ARE the best outfit in the world, for him, for the time being.
I guess it just depends on how badly he wants/needs to work.

He isn't getting turned down. Mostly because we are not in hiring area or just not hiring students.. Schneider is only hiring teams.. no way in the world we would go to swift. . They told him about 1100 miles he'd be getting at .25 cents.. that's not even liveable. .
