Don't let truck stops deter you from an OTR job. When I was OTR, I hated truck stops more than broccoli and I managed to pretty much never have to sleep at them. I only went to them in the middle of the day for fuel and showers. Be creative about your overnight parking and do diligent planning before every trip.

I see a lot of ugliness at truck stops. New ProStars and Cascadias, wheel covers and trailer skirts. The smell of stale urine in the summer, stepping on what’s left of an Arby’s roast beef sandwich, empty soap buckets and full trash cans. The good news is everyone is staying under 5 mph so there is not as much threat of being run over while walking.

You were a driver in the late 60’s drinking “pop”? That’s kinda weird. All the old school truckers I knew would pull their rig over and have a cold beer back in the 60’s. So you must be in your seventies now. Hopefully you aren’t still drinking “pop” lol

No, I was born in 1958. Most of these memories were at the old Goldmine Truck stop in Georgia. It was across I 85 from where the Flying J and Petro are now near Carnsville. Most of that time I was 6 to about 9 I was with my father.

Anyone else care to pick a fight with me? My story stands. Enjoy the ignore list.

Eventually I might run out of ignores... or run out of decent people to talk with or help.

It would have been better I got the law there to that 76 and make up the police report, arrests, bond and etc etc etc so I can scan it all in 20 years later and push it onto TTR here as evidence that yes this fight occured.

When people do not understand the things that happened and insist on giving me a hard time based on my history which I make no secret of, it is a disservice to everyone. It's very disappointing. But that's ok. Idiots are born every minute in the USA, even better for that person to write something silly and tired and confirm it so I can build that list.

I am not here to make trouble. I tell my stories as it happened. I also specifically sometimes say when a story is just a lunch counter story. Sometimes I say something that needs correction. I have been corrected with good manners in the past. But when I come across these posts that serve no purpose other than to try and upset me or make it look stupid, then there is no reason to deal with you.

It was a nice little fight the way it worked out that day. Maybe it should have been a arrests, bond and all of that Chicago style. If that is what you want. Pound of flesh and all that stupid crap.

Im finished with that discussion. Remember if you do not like what I have to say, select my name, select ignore and be done with it.

    @x1Heavy

I’m sure you mean well, however, the way you go about saying stuff comes across rather odd.

When you’re posting walls of text that don’t even come close
to answering a question, it usually has the affect of coming across as an effort to brag, either about how fast you’ve rolled in Georgia Overdrive, or your “IDF” training, or the like.

It always comes back to ‘back in the good old days, I ______”. If you want people to believe you, the way that you present yourself could be...improved.

I’ve never met you. I don’t wish to demean anyone that I don’t know for a fact is blowing smoke.

All I have to go by is what you write, and the context that you write it in.

It isn’t believable, and often, doesn’t seem to have any connection to the thread in question.

I might suggest, that you start a thread in the Social Section - tell stories there, give some background, and build an auto-biographical account that people could relate to.

I’d read it, and, wouldn’t comment negatively, regardless of my personal opinions on the subject matter.
