Got new carrier insurace certificate today....looked a little different so I pulled last years....It is different! Carrier cut the cargo from 5 million to 500k and eliminated the pollution endorsement.
Uhm...were in the chemical business AND we roll trucks. Bout 2 a year average. This doesn't look good to me. If we have a spill we're screwed, or he is. There is nowhere near enough coverage to cover a spill IMO and if it were to run off in a drain /creek / lake?
Whatcha think ? Big boy rolling the dice? Cash flow problems? Aw mahuck it?
Uht -oh...see what you think... insurance coverage too low?

Wow, dude must be hurting for money or just being greedy and cheap. That is no where near enough to cover a major mishap, that dude is gonna be up the creek if something does happen and you better believe he is going to try and pin it all on the driver too. Is it even legal to go that low in coverage?

Trucks over 10,001 lbs require $5 million insurance....

Definitely a problem. Is it a typo or is this for real? -
The five million requirement is for liability. Cargo is as it says just for loss in what your carrying not dor liability to what the accident causes have seen cargo as low as 100k

ditto on 5 mill liability required on hazmat. cargo insurance just covers the cost of the product. the pollution insurance may be worth having may not. I am good friends with some o/o tanker drivers who the company they are working for recently started requiring a mill pollution policy. and they pull non hazmat tanks. from talking to them seems the company's that will even write this policy are limited and the ones that do prices are allover the board all the way up to 10k per year. for 1mill in coverage. threw some discussions with we kinda feel that an additional mill under liability or umbrella should cover what the pollution insurance covers but the company they are hauling for is now requiring the pollution insurance policy. there is some confusion as to what exactly pollution insurance is even buy people purchasing it. but they all purchased it because they wouldn't be able to continue hauling with who they were hauling for without it.
