I'm thinking about getting a volvo with a ultrashift I'm hesitant because I heard they're unreliable and expensive to repair

Xy shifter is about $600, you can change it yourself. it does have its own computer. The first thing I did was get under and unplug every connector, put in some dielectric grease, then plugged em all back up. Knock on wood I've never had any issues with that in 3 yrs I've had the truck. The rest of the transmission is the same as a regular 10 speed, no more expensive than those to work on. I did have to put a new clutch in recently, that was about $300 more than a regular clutch because it's made different. They are just as reliable as any other. Most of what you hear is people spewing off BS that they've heard from someone else. It does take a little to get used to just because it's different. I can also tell you that my left knee no longer hurts and stop and go traffic is a breeze.
rexmanno Thanks this. -
Are you talking ultrashift as in eaton. Or Ishift. ?? Big diffrence. I wouldn't hesitate to get a Ishift but I would steer clear of anything eaton if it don't have a stick

Same reason I refuse to own anything with a egr valve , dpf,def or Vgt. It's all gonna leave you on side of the road sooner then later. No thanks , you guys have fun with that.
