Unable to get home for doctor appointment 3 times

I know its to long...​

Hi my company was great when I started with them,they separated now. The dispatchers thou were great but thought us drivers wanted to stay out for 6 months at a time,now they gave us 5 weeks out and if I want to be out 6 great but they got longer and longer out, I've been working for them now one year ten months no problem,but after 6 months I told and gave them 4 weeks & 2 months notice I needed to be at doctors app in CA for neurosurgeon for check up & DOT doctor,I also had a doctor in the east PA for dietetic treatment and I still missed it.

I am dietetic and had back surgery I got 2 plates 4 bolts 1 metal rod 22" on spinal column holding me up back in 2010. I have to be checked, after missing 3 appointments, my office staff worked with me, my doctor then called my company, they gave a route to CA.They know all our medical needs when we sign our work & health forms to them "THEY ALL KNEW" by DOT physical.

Under doctors order not to drive Jan 09,2017 because he found damaged upper neck region I was told I need physical therapy,My doctor sign " NO Drive Form under doctors care" in CA he sent paper work to company. My company then wanted me to drive to North Dakota and drop truck in their yard, then come back to CA for the therapy.

Therapy was to be 5 weeks long I was under my "FML" then I would be back on the road for 2 to 3 months, but Jan 17,2017 they fired me.I am good,looking to work again...

You are doing what I am doing fighting for a future without trucking to be in the best health possible.

I felt a little bit off when the officials at the company tried to make you run off like a pesky litle boy delivering a 18 wheeler across half the USA and return. Seriously? Throw the #### keys on the desk they have CDL's they drive it and theng et a taxi to the freaking APT with the cell phone off to conserve thebatteri power you will need to get hold of wife.

Ive gone to surgeries with that stupid cell ringing in my pocket, I get angry, destroyed the blood pressure machines and throw the anthiesoloist medicine tree out of whack, he reddens a little, frowns, hits me with 6 mg of versed and then another 10 ;iquid equilivant of that famous Diazphem. Poof what cell?

That is one reason I push back against march of bosses in dispatch calling 24/7 when I am trying to have a mechanic fix something break inside my freaking body just like one of his precious tractors inisde shop getting fixed because I care and love it enough to make ti fixed. I swear the Lord allows dispatchers SOMETIMES to show up to vex me. If you are one, don't take offense. I get crazy around them. And a,[rettu sire tje have enough of me.

 

Ive been a OTR driver for for multiple trucking companies for 30 years
Keeping doctors/health appointment has alway been a near impossibity
If you give a month advance notice it still doesnt seem to work out

I suspect that there is an unspoken agreement between health insurance companies and trucking companies that the less the drivers gets to actually use the provided insurance benefits the better deal the insurance company cuts the trucking company group insurance plan
