I have bought three homes since 2000 and have not had a problem with any of the above. As said before I knew my numbers and stuck to that. No big deal for me. I am sorry you have been played in the past.
Under $2/mile loads with $6/gal diesel.

I bid on a load from WA to Laredo TX for 5500. This was the response I got from TQL. Ha Ha She wanted it for $2700.
I’m posting just like all the others on DAT. I’m sorry you aren’t familiar with the current market prices.
No one will pay you that kind of money outbound WA. That $5500 is an inbound WA rate from Texas sir.
My response. Good luck with that 1.22 Covid rate. Whomever pulls that load will be out of business in no time thankfully.MartinFromBC, singlescrewshaker, JoeyJunk and 4 others Thank this. -
If there is anyone out there clinging on and hoping it’ll improve. Seriously, consider just getting out now. I really mean that. The next 6 months are going to be the same or likely worse. Unless you’re confident you can hang on for at least another year, then it’s not looking good.
It very well could be Jan 2024 before conditions are favorable again. The Covid craziness skews things but as a rule of thumb in the past… generally we’d have 18 months of good times followed by 24 months of bad times. Who knows what’s in store in the next 14 months but I doubt it’s anything good.
This thread is pathetic in my honest opinion. People need to sack up or get the hell out. All of this talk is bs and never going to happen. Let the cream rise to the top as it should.BoostedTeg, MartinFromBC, singlescrewshaker and 8 others Thank this. -

I feel exactly the same way!
The small job I did today, took me 9.5 hours total, and wasn't difficult.
Getting this little job was also easy.
Last week I got a call, customer asked me to deliver a load of diesel to him.
I said call me back in 2 hours, I'll have a price for you. He called me back, and I gave him my price, which he didn't like. Then he asked me for a discount, and I said no, that price is firm, take it or leave it. Well he said no thanks, and that was that, or was it. Same guy calls me back a few hours later, and says okay to my price. So today I delivered it, on time, and happily.
Never did he ask me what my profit margin was, and I didn't ask him how much he was making.
It was a simple business transaction, where I made money, and I am certain that he makes money. Doesn't matter if we are each making $100,000 / year profit, or $100,000,000 / year profit.
Walmart, and Amazon, both make more than me, but I'm fine with that. I also choose to shop at both occasionally.
What I make, a broker makes, realtor, pharmacist, mechanic, store, or carpenter who is building my home makes, is none of my business.
All I ask is they do their jobs well, and cause me minimal stress.
That is also what I strive to do for my customers.
Deliver on time, as agreed to, with the least possible stress to them. If I make $5 or $5,000 profit that day, is nobody's business but mine.BoostedTeg, Siinman, singlescrewshaker and 5 others Thank this. -
Easy to say.
Why did you not bring a meme?
If poeple talk about it, it serves its purpose. Provoked enough they may say something worth taking under consideration.
This is a forum, opinions are exchanged.
I don't see it as pathetic. It is provocative at the most.
.
Consider this:
Who knows how many people bought 500 000 mile Cascadias for $150 000 on the account of your Millionaire club glamorous thread. Now you tell them to get out?!Chieftains and RJM1953 Thank this. -
Just like someone living in their truck, no family and truck is paid off could technically still make it with cheap freight rates.
The problem is that if rates keep getting pushed into the ground cheaper and cheaper that many will go bankrupt and will be less appealing for new drivers to come in.
Then when the economy picks up or there's an emergency situation like when covid was bad there won't be nearly enough trucks out there to service everything.
For "essential workers" there has got to be a better way.
The idea of guaranteed money on w2 in trucking is not even true. Many are paid by the mile and not by the hour.
There is no floor even for company drivers paid by the mile, if they are sitting they could earning near nothing.RubyEagle Thanks this. -

There is an option for those who want the government setting their rates for them. Hawaii is still regulated by their PUC. They dictate the minimum hourly rates to charge. So you can find someone to sponsor you that will go with you to your hearing in front of the PUC. Then you both can try your best to convince the PUC that your services are needed on whatever island you’re going to, you also have to show that you have the means to buy a truck and that you have a company willing to insure you. Then you sit while every other truck owner who wants to show up to the hearing does their best to convince the PUC to not allow you to buy a truck. If you and your friends out-argue your opponents and you win the hearing then you get to buy your truck and go to work. Once you’re rolling you have to maintain your time cards and your financials so that when the PUC comes in you can prove that you’re charging the correct amount. Also don’t forget to maintain the equipment roster on file with the PUC, they don’t want you sneaking in a bunch of unneeded trucks or trailers.

I’m pretty sure you signed disclosure forms if you purchased one after 2009 and didn’t tell the broker “I don’t want to see your cut.” Those disclosure forms are there to let you know they aren’t padding the interest rates.
