    Luckily i didnt have to do that , mostly because the guys at the quarry would shoot a text to dispatch saying dont send any trucks today unless u want inspected, msha is here lol the one day he was giving me grief about my fire extinguisher , they showed up by surprise while we were loading...

    The problem is, and it may be unpopular opinion…….the American truck driver is all but gone. Foreigners that are happy to work for peanuts with no regard to success or failure have taken this deal over.

    Partially a response to @Midwest Trucker here too

    Youll be fine, ive never in 9 years of o/o actually been working and able to work steadily at the peaks of the market, but because i made sure my cheap old truck was in good enough shape during the good times, i had minimal trouble with downtime in the bad times.

    And i never planned on good times, since i never really experienced them. At best i built my toolbox and knowledge of repair in those times.

    If you want advice, just KNOW your cost per mile so you dont run under cost if there isnt a good reason (and yes, despite what anyone else thinks, part of your cost is your personal monthly bills, lets face it, if you dont make your mortgage payment and your wife HAS to come live in the truck, thats not winning, even if it makes you stay afloat)

    @TallJoe

    You talk a big game about what YOU think would make things "fairer" (in your opinion) but refuse to confront the reality that, as one of the wisest men ever once said: "life isnt fair princess, anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something"

    I love all the guys saying go out and get your own direct customers to get away from cheap brokers.

    Why would a shipper want to pay you either when they know countless trucks would line up for peanuts per mile.

    DUNE-T Thanks this.

    Why no inframe? I did 600k miles ago on a 1.4 million mile engine and that wad in a roughly 2.2 million mile truck.

    Having transmission worries now, but it was a used junkyard trans 700k ago, thats the thing im getting replaced next. I get nervous at about 1000 miles from home, but so what, lifes a gamble

    Chieftains, TallJoe and Siinman Thank this.
