Agree 100 percent. Most people that have a plan in place that understands business is gonna do very well for themselves. The only thing that messes stuff like that up is if you have people working for you and they are like family. My old boss jumped the gun a few times on projects that did not work out because he wanted to keep me busy so I would not go away and do something else. So those projects was a loss of money but he retained me at least to do the stuff that was gonna make him a lot more money. So it was a loss but was a calculated loss that he was willing to make to preserve his business.

He had also held on too long on one of his businesses because he cared to much about his employees. Sometimes we tend to get too personal to make the right business decision. I wonder based on your response the other day if this is part of the reason you have stayed in the game and maybe not jump out?

Oh for sure. I could sell everything and retire just fine but I still have more to give and more to achieve. Your right, I was able to change the generational trend and hire people who absolutely are like family. One gentlemen started when we were still ok but pretty much crap lol and has gone from 12/hr to now 35/hr here 10 yrs later. I really pride myself in finding diamonds in the rough who i know can and will be all stars. They just need that opportunity and chance to do big things.

I’m old in the mind but still young in the age at 38. I’d definitely feel like I was letting my people down if I sold the company. I had children late in life so we’ll see what they want to do with time. It wouldn’t surprise me if my oldest at 6 yr old doesn’t want to buy a truck and lease on while he’s a young teenager still in school. He saves everyday in his piggy bank. He’s been by my side every step of the way since he was born. Honestly, this kid knows more about business then I ever did when I started at 23.

Well see. It’s not really about money anymore but legacy, pride, and respect for those that came before us. I feel like I had big shoes to fill and it’ll make me very proud of the next Gen feels the same. However, if not it’s all good. Crazy as it sounds I’ll be disappointed if he wants to go to college.

Im prob a crap Dad in some peoples eyes but is what it is. I’m happy to teach my children anything they want to know to be successful no matter the industry. It’s a mind set after all.

Love that you want to pass it along and make it a family business. As long as your son sees you are happy and include him in a lot of it I would be surprised if he does not follow in your foot steps. Key to this is for him to see you are enjoying life with the hard work. My old boss had a son later in life and he is now 17. Kid is so #### business savy I swear if he does not become a billionaire I would be disappointed. His Grandma and Grandpa helped raise him and they are both very well known millionaires. So he has been around every situation on business since he was a toddler. They have all included him in on daily lives as being business owners from Factory to high end designing and major building designs.

He has a very high passion for racing so it may end up stealing his talents from business since he is one of the top young racers coming up. Kid could play any instrument as well being a high end musician. Never seen a kid with so much talent in my life.

    Speak for yourself, countless times..
Matter of fact I've been tipped up to a C note at a time. It's not often & in the grand scheme of things is very little money, but I've been tipped $450 over the course of 9yrs trucking..

Apparently y'all don't know jack about the open deck world..
After too many goons miss crane appointments, don't tiedown freight properly, aren't dressed for the job, have a piss poor attitude, don't communicate, can't or won't get the load where it needs to be offloaded in some stupid tight spot, show up at the wrong time so the tilt up walls are out of order, the list goes on..

It's a sad state of affairs when the mediocrity of just showing up on time, with what's described above makes one stand out from sea of garbage floating around them..

Lots of times I've showed up to a place and they seemed surprised I was on time. So yeah it does make a difference. One place I showed up to a few months ago the guy on the dock said I was the first person to show up on time that day and it was later in the afternoon. He got me right in ahead of all the trucks that were late
