You and I may have complex sympathies towards each other but one thing I am sure about you is that you are a person who does know how to do things professionally and adhere to higher work ethic standards. And your truck definitely attests to that too. Therefore, it makes me perplexed to see you obsessed with guys driving trucks like that as if they pose a threat to your livelihood. I suspect that you are too angry that with all that pride and devotion and work ethic of yours, there is - all of a sudden - a flip-flop-wearing wannabe daring to do the same line of work. There is nothing you can do about it and your frustration may not find a welcome reception when you express it to people who have nothing do to with such low-standard trucks. I could not drive that Freightliner truck either.
You work for an established carrier and I am sure that you are above that sort of competition. That guy, sooner or later, will be pulled over by a mobile DOT cop and put OOS if his truck is not complaint. If, as the other poster @KrumpledTed suggested to me, it is true that better carriers - better trucks have better access to more prestigious customers, that guy should not be your competitor, and people of @KrumpledTed and your elevated statue would not want to deal with the places he goes to get his loads either.
Like I said, you should just spit towards that truck and carry on, instead of taking pictures and sharing your frustrations.

Except rates. Don't help anyone with their rate determination!! You can help change a tire or fix an electrical issue, BUT DO NOT discuss rates with them or the secret load low ballers will manifest and steal everything you worked for.

I think the point of the frustration is that the poor hygiene/truck maintenance/securement makes us all look bad and unprofessional. I am not knocking the van/reefer drivers by any means I would not want to deal with some of the stuff they do, but the brokers, shippers, and receivers on the flatbed side have very different expectations. When a driver in that division screws up that can have an effect on all of us, and perhaps discussing it on this forum allows someone to alleviate some stress or frustration. No, we cannot change the unprofessional driver, but we can certainly point it out and maybe, just maybe help the next driver to not be that guy. When I was driving I cannot tell you how many times I hooked up with another driver, even from other companies, to secure and tarp our loads together to get both trucks on the road. Perhaps the driver being complained about was new and thought he knew everything so declined assistance from experienced drivers, perhaps he just did not care and put other drivers of all types at risk. All of the above are valid points of frustration and should be called out.
