See, there is the difference, I would do it if triple brokered, but paid $1000/mile.
If we are all making money, let the good times roll...

I just thought of the simplest workaround of all. Let’s say a load of something going somewhere pays $4500. The broker moves the loads for $3500 to $4100 or so. It’s now a rule to disclose the rate and they know every trucker is going to want $4300 or so plus they’re going to want quick pay on top of that. So it’s time to negotiate the contract. On paper that load moves for $3000 but there’s a bonus of $1000 per load that’s picked up on time, paid quarterly. So you see the sheet saying the rate is $3000, you agree to move it for $2800, the broker sticks $1200 in his pocket in the end, and the shipper saves $500.

I heard the phrase in Godfather II
"I know how much you got, I want to squeeze you"

    You are overthinking it.
The transparency itself is an innocent concept. It is not like capping brokers on their commission - another subject for another time. It is simply a part of the procedure. You haul load, you know all the attributes about it such as weight, commodity, count and value. Brokers are in position of knowing what carries haul it for - that one more attribute in their favor.
Adding shipper-broker rate is one more attribute in the favor of a carrier.
It does not directly affect the rate but maximizes the carriers bid.
This thread complains about carriers running cheap, maybe they would not be running this cheap, if they knew what shippers pay, every time they book it.
Or at least they would be aware how miserable they are, which could be a motivating factor.

I don't think that I would want to work for someone who is that stupid, and runs his business so poorly.

I don't tell my drivers, mechanics, office staff, equipment operators, managers, lawyer, house cleaner, tire man, oil salesman, or anyone else what I get paid to haul stuff.

Disclosing shippers' rate is a different animal.

It's the industry as a whole. Way to many people underestimate the amount of money needed to play owner operator and the cycle just continues. The high fuel and lower rates are helping thin the herd, that's it.

Pretty sure this $3.43 a mile load I just picked up is the cheapest load I’ve hauled yet this year but full truck load isn’t really my thing, $2 a mile would of had me at home kicking the #### out of my fridge until Friday
