Hi guy's, I've been officially unemployed for 1.5 years. I make money on the side doing oddjobs, and I also work "under the table" for my familys small cattle operation. As obvious, everything is under the table and not on the "books". Will this be an issue when trying to enroll for Prime's school and training? Will they understand this if I simply explain, or am I screwed?
Unemployed before going to Prime, will it be an issue?

Get a notorized affidavit, that you were working on your families cattle business for that 1.5 years. Some companies want to see W-2's, but maybe the money went into the collective family household. Call Prime and ask what exactly do you need and be prepared when you arrive for orientation.

What exactly qualifies as a notorized affidavit? Could you explain? And yes, each cow that was sold to the stockyard was split amongst 3 members of my family, including me. The checks for each sale of cattle was not written in my name, but mostly my mother's name, and then the money was distributed amongst family members.

If Prime requires the affidavit, it's basically just a paper explaining the 1.5 years you mentioned. If Prime ask for this, then you ask how they want it worded. A local notary may have the form and can explain it better than I. It's no big deal, ask Prime. It's just a minor detail that may keep you from being sent home.

When I dealt with Swift for a simliar issue, I just needed letters written and signed from 2 people stating that I was unemployed for the time frame. My parents just wrote quick letters, signed them, and faxed them over. That's all there was to it. They just need a paper trail for everything.

If you got some proceeds from the dispersal of the estate property, then you should have filed a tax return for it, yes? A copy of the return is enough to document your income.

Why Prime?? Like driving 55 or less??? LOL

@BigDuker:
Looking into Prime because of their sponsorship program...they offer better training than 99% of the other "CDL Mills", and its also really affordable for people that don't have thousands of dollars or rich relatives to help them pay for some over-hyped training academy.
I've been told their trucks are generally in great condition, and they govern at 62 for company drivers, and 65 for L/O, so I'm not sure where you get the "55mph" figure from.
Hey man, I'm just looking for advice about a company I've recently become interested in...its just one company, among many, many others that I'm also evaluating before I make any final decisions. If your comments are irrelevant to the subject, please spare me the BS so I can get the forthright and accurate answers I need to make an educated decision...Marky84, str8rida, WideSkyND and 1 other person Thank this. -
I have applied to a few companies and accepted and I was about in the same position, I had 3 periods of unemployment. So the company that questioned the unemployment actually sent me the affidavit in the mail. If Prime wants an affidavit they should have the form for it. Just call and ask your recruiter.
huckstah Thanks this. -
I'll call them today and inquire about it. Thanks
